  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Well back recently CR had published that the Genny’s audio system isn’t reliable. I did hear in 2013 that it was much improved. I really plan to buy this automobile over a Chrysler 300. I plan to buy the Genny with the premium package as the tech package is out of my budget. I would like to know which systems been having the most issues..... Please help me out

I have a 2012 with Premium Package and have had no issues with the radio for the past 2 years. However, some did have problems with the tech package. So I wouldn't worry about the issues you've seen as you will not have the tech package.

I have the 2012 Tech and have experienced 0 issues with the audio system in 35,000 miles. In fact, my 17 speaker Lexicon is the finest OEM system I've ever heard. I have somewhat of a musical background and appreciate the high quality sound reproduction, especially listening to my DVD-A's. I've also had more than one unsolicited positive passenger comments on the system.

I have a 2013 w/tech. I have had numerous problems with no satisfaction from dealer.

1) XM problem. When I listen to a station on xm2 or xm3 and turn car off the radio reverts to a xm1 station.
2) Once in a while when I turn on car and radio either reverts back to xm1 or I was last listening to xm1 there will be no sound ....period. I have to either change to xm2, xm3, fm1/2 or am or turn off radio and back on to get sound.

Speakers are great but above problems are annoying.

The only 2012 issue that wasn't fixable was that the Tech package cars could not stream Bluetooth audio. The base and Premium cars had no such problem. That crazy, inexplicable, oversight by Hyundai has been remedied for 2013 and, presumably, for 2014.

Some other cars have had "blue screen of death" display issues, but that is easily remedied under warranty by a head unit replacement. Just drive straight to the dealer if it ever happens, or video the problem on your smartphone. My car's head unit was replaced and the problem remedied. It's an easy replacement. The "no sound" issue mentioned in a post above is easily resolved by the same fix.

There are a ton of ads and reporting on the third party direct head unit replacement here in the forum. Looks like it has many more features and a fantastic GPS and display which is easy to upgrade. If I had a base model or premium. Looks much better.

Mine has failed twice. Plus other issues!!!! With the tech model 2012 5.0

^ How about some specifics, Dicko?

How often does this happen? Once a week or once a month? Once a day?

I occasionally have XM problems with my 2009 but not enough to make me go crazy. A lot of times when XM channel skips to CH1 its becuase the satellite did an update of the channels. Happened a couple times a couple weeks ago I think with the new Christmas lineup.

I have a 2010 4.6 with the 17 speaker system and have had no problems with the stereo. Best car stereo system I have ever had and I love it!:D

Same here. Mine is a 2011 4.6 with tech 17 speaker system. Works flawlessly. I use a mini 16 gig usb drive for my music. When I had an XM subscription it worked with no problems.

I've never had a problem with mine, but you always hear about those who do.

I've had this happen also and it's nothing more than XM doing updates, doesn't really bother me though since you can just use voice command to put it back on your station of choice.

One thing I have noticed is the 2013 seems to have a somewhat improved voice recognition over my 2010....though still not the most intuitive system compared to other vehicles I have been in.

+1 however, don't get me started on all the other "electrical" issues I've had with this thing....... and still having issues (2010) aaaarrrggghhhhh

Got a '12 R spec. Had the no sound issue and surround sound not staying selected issue. Dealer fixed it with the TSB S/W upgrade. No issues since.

For those who have issues, have you had the latest SW TSB installed? There are a couple of threads on this site about it. I know one person had a issue at the dealer who wouldn't install the update becaus eit said not for the '12, but Hyundai syas it is, you just have to have the -1 I beleive of the TSB.

I have the software update on my 2012 3.8 tech. The "no sound" issue has occurred twice in about 6 months since the update. Of course I know how to correct it (thanks forum) but it's a pain in the ass. It occurred again just last night. I walked away,to buy more swag for X-mas, and the sound returned with start up an hour later.
