  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Apologies if this has been asked before, but I searched high and low, and didn't find very much at all on this topic.

I'm very curious to hear from any of you that have played with the Aux Video Input on Genesis Sedans with the Tech package. The quality (or lack thereof) is especially of interest to me. Obviously the video is composite, and there is only so much quality that standard will accept.

The reason that I ask is because I am curious as to the viability of combining a small computer (netbook or similar) with a video converter (or integrated video out) and the VIM harness to have a viable CarPC type setup that leverages the existing display with minimal hacking/desecration of the existing car systems.

Before anyone gives me the safety speech, I'm not looking to surf the net while driving, but there are some amazing things being done in terms of navigation on full blown PC platforms that simply cannot be done on dedicated GPS platforms. Plus, what better way to have a ton of music available than having a full blown CarPC?

Obviously not all video outputs are created equal, and for my purposes I am guessing that setting the video output to Pal (and setting the Genesis to Pal input as well) would give the best looking picture.

Anyway, anybody that has tackled this, or anything like it, I'd love to hear your thoughts.
