  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Battery Going Dead?

Thanks for the info. I checked my fuses; one breaker "clicked" when I pushed down on it. Maybe that could be something. Will let you know. Also waiting for a reply from Hyundai Consumer Relations.

Sitting here right now with my 2010 Genesis with tech package, not starting with just 1,000 miles on it! Talk about pissed!

I've owned four Toyotas and never had a service call. The tow truck is on its way. Sorry I didn't lease. Feel like I bought a lemon.

I'm not even going to attempt a jump start because I think they'll be back next week. Maybe I'll be lucky and they will figure this one out but I don't think I'd do it again.

Shit happens sometimes man. You probably got a bad battery.

...but if I were you, I'd just return the car and be done with it. We all know the Genesis is a piece of shit anyway.

Lol.....One issue doens't make a car a lemon dude. Have you checked any fuses?

Just got the worst news. "Charged the battery and everything is 100%" I don't think so. I suspect I'll be returning to the dealer before long, and it will be flatbedded on Hyundai's dollar.

Well it wasn'T a loose fuse!

I received an email from Hyundai indicating that my dealer would be contacting me shortly to "complete further diagnostics".

That's almost two weeks ago!

Since then my car has acted up twice.

A little blue light flashes next to the key fob receptacle after I manually unlock the door.
It will automatically switch to XM, change the temperature display from centigrade to farenheit, nad display incorrect time.

I have to drive for fifteen minutes before the radio and navigation works.

I think it is definately a computer problem.

I started having dead battery problems about 2 weeks ago (early June 2011).
If the Genesis was not driven for a couple of days, the battery would be so low the engine would not start (just a clicking noise). I recharged the battery (in the trunk) and everything would be ok for 1 or 2 days and same dead battery problem occurred again and again. Also, my navigation system "locked up" and I lost all my address book settings. Brought it to the dealer this morning and they called back saying the battery had a "bad cell". They also said I would need to pay 75% and they would cover 25% of the
new ($180) battery. I purchased the Genesis in May 2009, so the vehicle is just 2 years old. I think this a crappy battery warranty, as most batteries should last 5 or 6 years. Would it be worthwhile to write to Hyundai about this problem?
Thanks

Battery and tire warranties are typically different than the rest of the new car warranty. But check the warranty details on your car and see what it says.

Did anybody notice "imitiday" s post? No one seemed to comment on it (like, hey I looked under the hood and the part in question was still there, so no that isn't it).

Forgive my female non technical response, but there is some sort of contact under the hood of the car and I think it's related to an alarm that will sound if the hood is opened without the proximity key being nearby.

Anyway, on more than one occasion, some owners have found that this little part under the hood went missing, and when it is missing, it somehow drains the battery. Once the missing part was replaced, the owners have had no more problems.

There is another thread on this that describes said part and its' exact location.

That is most likely the cause of the battery draining in a few days. A little piece of rubber that goes missing. All it takes is a search, since there is more than one existing thread on the subject as you mentioned.

Not much of a search either. It's just a few threads down titled "something is draining my battery"
