  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Anyone ever experience the battery light staying on until you actually drive. In other words Battery light stays on until car moves. Heated seats do not work until the light goes out.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
There is some short delay before the cooled seat button works (haven't tried heat yet in Texas), but I have not noticed that it is in sync with any light in the panel.

Hi Pahaska...I see you're from Austin? I live in Driftwood, but work in Austin. Must admit I haven't seen any other Genesis on the road in Austin since my purchase in June. Let's hope our numbers grow...but not too fast...I like being non-conformist!

We're almost neighbors. I live at Hills of Texas Estates, near Nutty Brown road.

I have a platinum Tau. I was on the way to Mandolas recently and passed another platinum coming the other way in Driftwood. I also saw a dark red Gennie pass as I pulled out on 1826 from our subdivision. Was either one you?

Crupp, that sounds like a possible battery/alternator issue.

I don't have my Genesis yet, but from many other cars that I have driven, the battery light tends to function as a low voltage indicator. When the car is operating on battery only the total available "juice" will be on the low side, but as soon as the engine turns over, it should be on the high side, basically enough power for both the car's electrical needs, and to recharge the battery.

The fact that the light goes out when the car starts to move indicates that at idle (in other words when the alternator's output is at its lowest) there is not enough juice in the system to cause that light to go out. If you start to move, then stop again for a while, does it come back on?

If your dealership is near by, I'd ask them to run a check on the alternator and battery (it is a dead simple probe check, which they should do for no charge) just to be on the safe side.

IIRC you just had your engine replaced due to water damage? There are quite a few plausible scenarios that I can imagine that would result in diminished functionality of the alternator (but not outright failure).

Best of luck!

Thanks Matt.

It looks like the computer (that handles this type of funciton) might be faulty. The tech replaced the alternator and same scenario. But when he replaced the battery the light went out but he was still getting a negative charge reading (?). Which he thinks means the computer is sending false readings.

Conclusion: a loose bolt, yes a loose bolt. Appearantly when they put the new engine in a bolt that holds one of the circuit relays was not tightend all the way and casued a false reading. THis, after a new alternator, battery and computer...isn't technology grand?

Mind telling me where exactly this circuit relay is?

Yes im goin through that now still turns on and drives just heated seats won't work

The battery light staying on for a while due that loose bolt happened with my car last month.
Luck It didnt cost me much, as the mechanic found it firstly when he wanted to take alternator out to replace it. Tightened bolt and it's golden solved.
