I got a chance to try out my Tires in the Minneapolis Snow and Ice today. We have about 5 inches on the ground now with a foot scheduled by end of day. They are Super!! - Great traction on Ice and Snow! I was able to go up hills, that other A/S tires I've had, could not get up. No problem today.

They are -- Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Plus(Grand Touring All-Season) - I am using size 245-45-19.

When I got my 2014 R-Spec in late April I put these tires on it on Day 2. I never had a chance to drive them on snow or ice until today. They are also great tires for the summer as well. Very Quiet, Great Ride and Decent Handling. They are much better than the A/S Conti DWS Extreme Contacts that are on my 2011 Genesis in the snow and ice.

These are plenty good enough for me and I personally do not want to go through the extra effort for dedicated snow tires and rims and the swapping them out twice a year. I have driven in Minneapolis for over 40 years now on all season tires, and these are the best of the bunch! I highly recommend them for anyone looking for a great all season tire for their Genesis!

I have the P7's on my Wife's Sonata and they are by far the best A/S tire I have ever used, traction wise in the dry they are even better then some of the summer tires I have used. I am really looking forward to the Dunlop's that are on my Genesis wearing down just so I can replace them with the P7's. I live in SoCal so I really don't need A/S tires, but the P7's are so great in every category that I love the extra capability in areas that I might see in the life of the tires.

Where did you buy them? Tire rack and Discount tire don't list them on line.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm. Thanks for the link. I wonder why when I searched for tires for the Genesis R-spec, they didn't show up??

Hello Cutthroat.
Thanks for the input on the P7s. Did you keep your stock rims?
Any noticeable discrepancies with your actual speed vs speedometer?

OK, I see now. These are 245 and not 235 tires.

Yes, I have the stock rims!... Actually according to my GPS the speedometer is more accurate with this size than the Original. The Original always seems to be off by 2-3 MPH. This size is almost dead on.

I used some calculator I found on-line and there was little difference in revolutions per mile between the 235 and 245.

Thanks for the info. That's very good to know. I think I will do a comparison
with the onboard GPS and a Garmin unit at the same time with my stock 235s.

I too, like the thread originator, live in the frozen tundra Minneapolis. I just picked up a 2013 Genesis 3.8Tech with summer tires, so last week I chose to get #3 Continental Pure Contact 235/50/18. My maiden voyage snow driving was yesterday with 5"+ of blowing snow. I was really impressed with the traction & stability. Even plowing through the slush when changing lanes.

In the western suburbs of Minneapolis, I go to Samaritan Tire, they beat Tire Rack prices

I've just returned from purchasing the P7's (245/45/19). Cut-Throat got me interested in this tire because I could not see buying a set of dedicated winter tires and rims plus a new set of summer tires when spring comes. All weather tires (not all-season.. they have the snowflake symbol on them) were just not available in our size. Also, I'll be heading south in about 5 weeks for the winter. So winter tires just didn't make sense.
How do they work? I went out in the country and compared the speedo settings to GPS settings at the following speeds: 60 km/h, 80 km/h, 90 km/h, 100 km/h At all four speeds the GPS registered exactly 2km/h (1.24 mph) higher than the cruise control setting. With the old Continentals (235/45/19) the speeds were identical.
The ride is quieter, as you would expect in a new tire; and the ride seemed smoother. It's too early to talk about handling and steering response.
In conclusion, I'm pleased with the tire. All reviews seem to point to great traction in the wet and dry. We will see. The speedo error/discrepancy is a non- issue for me.
Note:TPM sensors are not on each wheel of Canadian r-specs (maybe other models too). Instead, if the wheel sensors detect a difference in wheel rpm (such as when there is low pressure ) it will trigger a warning symbol on the dashboard. Obviously, a less costly, and probably less effective way of monitoring tire pressure.

O_o What cheesy summer tires? I have P7s on my R-Spec. Good tire and haven't used em in the snow yet, but as a touring tire they are very lacking in dry grip. Doesn't take much to spin them and they have little in terms of cornering stability nor do they inspire confidence. That's not what I got them for though. The UHP all-season Hankooks I had were terrible tires full of defects, but they gripped much better and even those were far behind even the budget summer tires I've had.

I also did not want to deal with having a winter set of tires but wanted an all season tire that worked well in the snow here in Green Bay. I now need to replace the 235/50R18 Cooper Zeon RS3-A's that I have had the last 40K miles. I think I will be ordering the Continental Pure Contacts. Consumer Reports ranks them 1st, slightly higher than the P7s, I think mainly because of better tread wear.

They don't make the Conti Pure Contacts in a 19 inch. So, this is a 'no-go' for R-Specs.
