  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

We're still 100% on topic. We're discussing the possibilities as to why the Genesis isn't seen as often on the road as one might expect. We're discussing different models that may be taking sales from the Genesis - especially considering the sales people are steering people into a Sonata or Azera considering they probably earn more money on that sale...

I live in Oklahoma City and commute to Norman every day. I've only seen 1 white 2015 Gensis on the highway that had Oklahoma plates. Another from Texas. I enjoy having a car that you don't see that often and have received a lot of complements on it. I always cringe though when someone thinks it's a 300...

I can't believe anyone would mistake a new Genesis for a Chrysler 300. I guess it's the emblem. They probably think it's a "new" 300 they haven't seen yet. The 300 is a nice car but it really doesn't compare to the design of the new Genesis. At least not in my opinion. It's one of the nicest looking luxury sedans on the market...

Somebody copy-catted the "badge" alright.

But youre right - the genesis is way out front - especially in the "nicest looking category".

If anybody knows of a better looking car than the 2015 Genesis - let me know - I'll be out looking tomorrow.

 +1 lol

I saw a blueish silver 2015 zoom thru an intersection in Kent, WA the other day. It really took me by surprise since I've only seen one other black one on the road. I did a double take when I saw it blast thru. It was stunning to actually see it in action.

I have had mine since June. It took about 4 months before I saw another 2015 in Miami. I started to see a few more starting about 3 months ago. There is a montecito blue owner somewhere near me as I have seen it at my local Starbucks several times.

I get comments all the time on my car from people driving Mercedes or BMWs, particularly if they have 4 to 6 yr old cars and are looking for a replacement.

Here in south FL, I see plenty of 15's on the road. What I have noticed, although I'm just guessing, but the average age of the drivers seems to be around 60 (totally pulled that from my arse, but the point is they're older...) South FL has ton's of retirees, so maybe demographics in your area factor into initial sales/viewings??

For those looking and not seeing, stop looking, and they'll be everywhere. :p

Florida is definitely a hot spot for the Genesis. It probably does have to do with the fact that a lot of retired people live down here. They like the great warranty and are experienced enough to know a good bargain when they see one. Younger people tend to be more snobby when it comes to cars and more often than not just want "the badge".

Not so sure about that - plenty of Mercedes, Lexus and BMW's driven by older folks - especially in Florida. I actually find today's "youth" less interested in general with cars the way a generation earlier was - the economy and changing lifestyle demands likely helped the change. Many would rather get an economy car or used sedan and spend money on other things.

I would think many of those under thirty today may live their whole lives without buying/leasing a new car. Something for the auto companies to think about.

Exactly what happened to the boating industry. Many companies collapsed and continue to do so because their greatest competition is their own used product. Heck, Bayliner which is the largest manufacturer of boats in America stopped producing all bigger boats a couple of years back and now only produce little ones. They even admitted the reason for the change was they could simply not compete with the used market out there.

This makes you wonder if the domestic automobile companies made cars that fell apart after awhile for this very reason.

But anyway, back on topic... I'm sure as the next few years come along we'll see many, many more second generation Genesis sedans on the road. They're not exactly "cheap" so you're not going to see ALL that many people buying them...

I bought mine at the end of February. During the process i kept seeing a Genesis commercial showing off the HTRAC and kept pointing it out to the wife that "that is the car I want". Now that I bought it I have yet to see another ad on TV for it.

Here in Australia the V6 Genesis costs $95,000
And we don't even get suede headliner amongst other features

I switched to the 2015 Genny sedan after a steady stream of 6 or 7 Infinitis, mostly for the better toys/stereo system, I buy cars like a computer geek. In WI I will not get a RWD car, it has to be at least front or preferably AWD and I think a lot of people here agree with me. With the AWD option, the 2015 was the first car nice enough to check out from Hyundai and I really like it a lot so far. You can't swing a dead cat around here without hitting an Infiniti, since they have had their AWD available for some time now. Lots of MBs and SUVs of all shapes and sizes. I have seen exactly ONE 2015 in the last two months, and not many 2009-2014s over the years. That is fine with me, I do not want to drive the same car as everyone else lol. Hopefully it will hold its value like most Hyundais, this is the first car I've bought (instead of leasing like I did with every Infiniti) in a LONG time.

There are at least 2, possibly 3 2015 Genesis sedans in my subdivision. There's mine, a burgundy one, and a black one (this one I'm not 100 percent certain is in my subdivision or was just visiting, but I've seen it more than once). I probably see a 2015 Genesis at least once every couple of days in the Lake Conroe, Tx (north of Houston) area.

Texans have a good sense about them most the time. In this case, good sense to know a great auto when they see one. And buy it. [emoji41]
