  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does anyone reccomend a great long lasting sealant?

There are a few products like this on the market. I've had great success with this product.

Any high quality fully synthetic polymer car wax (without any Carnauba) will work about the same as the expensive boutique stuff. I would look at products from Meguire's Ultimate or NXT Tech Wax 2.0. Be sure to wash your car with a strong detergent such as Dawn dishwashing liquid to get as much of the old wax off first (assuming the car is not new).

Um no. Synthetic polymers (Zaino, BlackFire, NXT) are absolutely not the same

WHAT IS OPTI-COAT?
According to the manufacturer, Optimum Polymer Technologies, Opti-Coat is a hard wearing, aftermarket, ceramic clear coat for superior resistance to scratching (9H) and chemical etching from environmental impacts. It provides permanent protection for all factory paints, and can also be applied to exterior glass, metal and hard plastic surfaces.

Opti-Coat is not a wax or sealant like other products on the market. It is a ceramic clear coating very similar to factory type clear coats. One layer of Opti-Coat measures approx. 2 microns in thickness which is roughly 100 times thicker than your typical wax or sealant. Unlike paint protection sealants such as Glass Coatings, PTFE, Nano Sealants, GlassPlexin that degrade over time and are easily removed through washing with water or chemicals, Opti-Coat does not degrade and cannot be removed by chemicals such as heavy duty truck wash or even caustic degreasers. It is resistant to these chemicals and produces a permanent film that chemically bonds with the factory paint layers. Opti-Coat is effectively the vehicles new outer clear coat. It is far more resistant to chemical etching than factory clear coats and far more resistant than competing paint protection sealants.

HOW LONG DOES OPTI-COAT PRO LAST?

Unlike conventional waxes and sealants, Opti-Coat Pro is considered a permanent coating. It will not degrade over time and will withstand the test of time. That being said, when applied to brand new vehicles Opti-Coat Pro will last the life of the vehicle and will come with a lifetime warranty against failure.

I didn't say they are exactly the same, but the ones from Meguire's are just as good as the others. Meguire's has an R&D budget about 100 time larger than the other companies you mentioned.

This is pretty much like the argument about motor oil, where people claim that brands like Royal Purple and Redline are better than Mobil 1, even though they buy their synthetic stock from ExxonMobil.

Nu Finish and Mequires Cleaner Wax (and a few others) are very good, but I would not use them too often since they have a slight polish effect. A very mild polish is good for once a year waxing, but not much more than that. Not sure I would use it on a brand new car.

I have used NU Finish for years with excellent results. I use the liquid and do about three applications a year. I use it on the car when new and then for as long as I own them, which for my last Suburban was 16 years. The paint on the non-garaged Suburban still looked almost like new after 16 years.

I use Opti-Seal paint sealant. It isn't a permanent coating but does last for a few months. It's very easy to apply, no buffing or anything, just wipe it on. Dust and light dirt can be easily washed away with just a water hose. You can use it over wax and the gloss it adds looks amazing. Check it out.
