I live in Canada. Currently I am using Michelin X-Ice 3 for Winter and they are very good. I need a new set of All Season Tires. I have heard the Michelin PRIMACY MXM4 causes vibration. Usually I like Michelin but I don't want to take any chances with steering vibration. I need some recommendation.

Please help me with some links at Tire Rack or some names. I need best All Season for daily driving and highway quiet ride and comfortable ride. Also, there are too many RIMs out there and not sure what is the best? Should I try to buy the lightest RIM (like 16 to 19lb).

I have the Conti Extreme Contact DWS 06. Excellent tires, very good in snow here in Chicago.
I had vibration issues with 2 sets of the Michelins. I also drove a loaner that was fine with the Michelins, so YMMV. There have also been good reports on the Michelin Premier A/S.

I had Bridgestone Turenza Serenitys on my gen 1 and as soon as the Michelins wear out, I'm putting a set on my gen 2. They were very quiet and smooth. I wear hearing aids, so quiet is very important (loudest sound wins:((

I have Michelin Pilot Sport A/S on my V8 Genesis. I debated between this tire and the Conti Extreme Contact DWS 06. I picked the Michelin because I had them on a prior vehicle and like them a lot. I live in TX, so I did not factor snow in my decision.

I have read all the threads about tire on here. It seems most people are happy with this one.

CONTINENTAL EXTREMECONTACT DWS 06
Ultra High Performance All-Season
Size: 245/45ZR18 100Y XL
Sidewall Style: Blackwall
UTQG: 560 AA A

Someone said, i need different size in the front and at the rear. At TireRack.com i don't see any option for front and rear tire. They seem to have same size. Am I missing something? Should I get original rim or after market rim? I was reading some reviews and some people had problems with vibration with after market rims. What should I do?

Only if you have the V8 version are the tires a different size from front to rear. Why are you looking to buy new wheels?

I'm also from Canada (Toronto) and use winter tires during the colder months. Have you considered summer tires for the warmer months? I understand that winter + summer tires are more effective (assuming you make the change at the right time) than winter + all seasons.

I had the conti's DWS on a past car and loved them, great snow traction and wore very well. Once these POS Michelins are done I will be going with the conti's again.

I also fitted Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires after the third set of dealer replacement Michelin Primacy MXM4 still didn't resolve the vibration problems. I have found the Pilot Sport A/S to be much better in terms of dry & wet grip and ride comfort. Too early to know how they wear but based on the Tire-Rack feedback they should be excellent. No experience in the snow as I use winter tires during the cold months.

I've had no issues with the MXM4s that came with the car after around 8k km on them. I guess I'll see how they wear once the weather gets a bit better/more summery.

Right now I have Michelin XIce 3 on Stock Rims. I love Michelin. But my plan is to get All Season tire and use the Stock Rims on All Season. Then buy a new set or Rims and put them on Michelin Ice 3. Very hard to shop for rims. I cannot find any rims with 36 Offset. Everything out there is either 35 Offset or 38 or 40.

I have been running the Michelin A/S'3 for the last two years as well and swap over to winters when the season changes. The rears only lasted 2 summers but I do tend to use 'Sport' mode quite a bit. Front still has enough treat for another Good mix of wet and dry grip. Don't run them in winter as the grip in the snow is average at best. My Blizzaks take over during the winter.

It seems having two sets 1 for summer and 1 for winter is not going to be easy.

Summer: All Season Continental DWS06 Factory Rim Sensors
Winter: Michellin XIce3 After Market Rim (still shopping) Sensors

Option 1:
Not buy another set of rims and sensors, just change the tries on the factory rims twice a year. CAD $140 for 4 tire change over. That means every year I will spend $280+tax. If I keep the car for 4 years, it will be $1120. Hard to know, i may keep the car longer. not sure. Also, I hate taking the tires with me, if I do this, I will store the tires at the dealer. that will be another $150 per year. 6 month storage fee is $75.

Option 2:
Buy another set of rims ($800 to $1000) + 4 new sensors (dealer said $520 for 4 sensors, tirerack.com says $300 for 4 sensors. ). Not sure which one is correct.
This will be easier i think. I can keep the tires with wheels at home and change it twice a year at home. Only one problem, I need to take it to the dealer to reprogram the sensors.

I am just wondering, if anyone has any better solution. What should I do? I want convenience.

I have the MXM4s that came with the car and also on my Infiniti Q70. Prior to that I had them on my Honda Accord. Never had a problem.

after some reading on this forum, there are mixed information. The Hyundai Canada (Winnipeg) dealers said (i called 3) the sensors needed to be re-programmed. One dealer said none of the Hyundai car in Canada has tire pressure sensors. I feel are they stupid or don't really know anything. That seems very wrong to me. All the Genesis I drove had pressure sensors. In this forum, people said, the car will auto learn the sensors. I don't know what to believe.

There are definitely pressure sensors in the Genesis Sedan. I'm in Canada and they came on my wheels right from the showroom floor.

They may have been referring to the Gen1 which had no TPMS in Canada although the US models did have them. Gen 2 has for sure and no you do not need to program/reprogram anything. Just run the car after the addition/swap and they will automatically bind to the car. I swap winter summer wheels time a year and no issue whatsoever.

Had 2 Gen1, V8 Genesis sedans and put OEM Hyundai TPMS sensors bought on eBay on my winter wheels in my Gen2 so I can confirm without a doubt the above statements.

I don't understand why you want all-seasons to run in summer when you already own winters for winter. IMO you should be leaning towards a performance summer tire.

I don't know what tire to recommend. My used Gen2 3.8 AWD came with worn out RS3-A, and I just put on another new set of RS3-A. I haven't tried the MXM4, or any other tire.

As to wheels, I tried one set from costco.ca that were in the fit guide. However they did not fit due to a spoke offset problem. So I took those back and ordered from 1010tires.com. These people as well guarantee fit. The ones I ordered are:

Description Qty Item Total
Fast Wheels FC04 (Titanium) Wheels 18X8 5 114.3 30mm 72.62
Item #FC04-1880-65TN-30C726

As to TPMS, yes the car comes with TPMS, obviously because you can see your tires pressures in realtime on the dash. I bought new TPMS sensors from ebay, genuine I think from Korea. After changing to my new wheels and TPMS, I started seeing pressures in about 10 km of driving. No programming was ever done.

I have the Pilot Sport tires and I'm on this forum looking for a longer lasting tire. Haven't been happy with the limited tire life of my two sets of Michelins. I live in Texas so the heat may be a problem for the tires.

I purchased 4 summer tires and rims because i hate the breaking down of the tires ,this way will save you money in the end . I got 4 sensor from ebay for $70 taxes in from Korea OEM ones. I'm from Nova Scotia so the salt they use on the road in the winter is hard on the rims and tires.
