  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Beware dark chrome issues

Anyone know what this might be near the B Pillar? I have the G70 sports trim
It looks like Pine Pollen. We get that twice a year down in SC. If it is, it should come right off. I used a ceramic wax on my whole car (GV70) including the door handles. Looks great, no issues....yet.

HF also has a cordless small polisher. I use it on headlights and have used it some on my G70 trim. In order to completely remove the trim discoloration I’d have to polish enough to remove the POS coating and end up with a bright finish which won’t match the other dark chrome areas so haven’t messed with the trim too much for just pisses me off the quality of the trim sucks and Genesis won’t fix the root cause.
Any of these look like the one you have? https://www.harborfreight.com/search?q=cordless polisher

The 12v Hercules variable speed is the closest. Appears mine is now discontinued but looks very similar to the 12v Hercules one. I think it was a Thunder Quake name maybe? HF seems to like to do some marketing with name changes and these days they have 3 main brands with different price points for most cordless tools. I ordered extra foam polish pads for mine from Amazon and now have a lifetime supply of polish pads. It’s handy for also polishing minor paint defects on the car without having to drag out air hoses and such. I really like mine for quick jobs.

Awesome, thank you! Added to the list. Excited to try on the trim and hit the headlights too.

Don't remove it, don't touch it. That's the dark chrome film they put so that the g70 trims with prestige package looks darker. I had insane issues with the film peeling on me, check out this video

Luckily it's a pretty simple DIY to wrap the trim, just a shame that that chrome tint they use isn't up to the task of staying clear over time though, as I love how that dark chrome looks when new. :(

I don't know if it is helping, but all of my dark chrome trim is ceramic coated and is perfect. I've had my 2023 G70 for almost 2 years.

I'm sure it is, seems to really break down in the sun so having that extra layer of protection would be a plus for sure.
