  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Bicycle Rack Possibilities for G70?

Headed out to a local waterway for some paddling on the weekend. The Thule EVO rack system worked well with two kayaks attached.

Man...I would NOT be attaching any straps to that aluminum hood. Way too risky.

We're working closely with our vendor to get the hitch sorted. It will be quite discreet, with a single post/receiver dropping down just below the diffuser. All other parts tucked up above the mufflers. It's been slow going as the rear packaging of the car is extremely tight, but I think we're almost there.
Hello
PD705, i know it’s been a while since you posted this but was curious where you got this info from?

Since Genesis still hasn’t come out with a hitch and it seems to be top secret for them to let us know anything. I went to a hitch shop to have one made custom but after removing the whole back end of the car they could not find a single anchor point solid enough to install or even weld one...

Was this from Genesis?
Thanks

Yes, from Genesis. I have a test piece coming in for fitment next week. Fingers crossed.

Oh nice! I'm assuming you work for a dealer? where about are you located? Yes for sure please send some pictures once it's installed and to be honest if it works I would order one from you since my dealership here doesn't seem to give a hitch any importance. Thanks

Yes on the pictures. Yes on the potentially ordering one from you as well.

After taking the whole rear end of my car and having a good peak at it with a custom hitch shop, there is very slim chances to fit a hitch to it as it’s way to thin (sheet metal) to attach or clamp anything. It was also brought to my attention that Genesis tested one on a car but was unsuccessful and have to go back to the drawing board. I’m not saying that it’s impossible but if they achieve it it won’t be for a while...

In the meantime, good news :) . Yakima just released a roof rack and since i didn’t wanna wait for ever...i forked out some money and got it for my car. It’s awesome and very solid. They rate it to 160lbs. It’s listed on the Yakima website and essentially you need the Bc137 & Bc163 to fit our cars.

Finally i can take the bikes with me :)
Check it out!

Boy, that's a nice color car you got there. 😉

I highly recommend SeaSucker racks for those who can't or won't install a hitch. I've used them and had my car up over 90mph with no problems. And the nice thing is that if you have multiple cars, you can use them on all of them. Just clean the area where they will attach first to reduce the chance of scratches.

It’s an option but with the Yakima now available I wouldn’t bother with the Sea Suckers as it renders the sunroof to be non operational...

You can mount the SeaSucker to the rear window with the rear tire mounts on the trunk lid. Or just don't use the sunroof while using the SeaSucker rack. The whole point of the rack is that it comes right off when you're not using it.

First post, and a thread I am interested in as we are wanting to mount our bikes as well for some distant rides.
Has anyone besides calgaryg70 made any headway with regards to a rack

Believe me, I did a lot of research, even to the point of having a custom hitch shop take the whole rear end of the car apart and 3 welders even looked at it to then come down to the same answer or not wanting to mount or weld anything due to too thin of sheet metal without any mounting points. Yakima at the moment is the only solution which has been working great...You can go with the Sea Suckers but imo the are useless as you can even enjoy your sunroof...Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info.
After pricing what I believe I'd need at Yakima, it as much as one of the bikes.
Believe we'll take the pick-up, tho the ride won't be near as enjoyable

Installing a hitch would be so ugly and expensive...not even funny. Plus you have to get a hitch mounted bike rack. So close to a grand?

Just get a trunk mount...plenty of good ones out there.

Some people don't want to damage their trunks and bumpers.

Hello. Found a photo on the net. You can see how well the roof ruck attaches to the rear.

Well, it works. Sunroof both vented and full open. Definitely noisier, but that's to be expected Thule doesn't make a wind deflector yet for the WingBar Evo. Next step is a bike mount and possibly a basket mount.

If you have any questions feel free to ask.

I'm curious if there was any long term damage from the towers being installed, or do you remove them when not in use? Also, what bike mount did you go with? I have the 2019 G70 sport and just purchased the trunk mount Thule Raceway Pro Platform but found that it doesn't support the Genesis'. I will have to return when it arrives from Amazon. I have both carbon bikes and steel bikes so need something that can support the weight as well.

Has anyone found a hitch & rack or trunk mount that will work on the G70? I need to carry two bikes.
