  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Bicycle Rack Possibilities for G70?

Hi folks
I'm currently driving a 2019 Stinger GT but I've been lurking on this forum for a while :) I'm close to trading up to a G70 and I found a towbar on the Australian Genesis website as an option when ordering (I've attached a screencap below).

I am using a SeaSucker single bike mount on my Stinger and haven't had any problems with it. It lives in the boot, ready to go when I want it :)

Anyone find a part number for that towbar? Pretty light specs, but I'd take it over nothing for sure.

Checked the Australian website and the towbar IS an option (had to see it for myself). I'm emailing my local Genesis rep over this and copying the link...

Guaranteed most people will end up exceeding the ball download or tongue weight as the first problem in North America. lol

Any luck with your Genesis dealer?

Not even a reply to my email which is unusual. I"ll follow up on Monday. I'm guessing its a hard no, but I still may try and find the PN if one exists.

Dang, guess I'll have to go with the roof racks others were getting.

The part number for the Australian Genesis towbar is G9A04APH00. However, it won't do us any good. Genesis Australia can't sell it directly to us due to franchise restrictions. My local Genesis parts manager investigated purchasing it through Mobis US from Mobis Australia (Hyundai's parts subsidiaries), but was told the Australian towbar is not "legal" in America (presumably because it has not been tested/certified to U.S. standards). In any event, he can't order it for me from Australia.

The same objections will be raised if Genesis Canada ever offers a hitch.

So, unless Genesis America itself develops/offers a hitch for the G70, we are out of luck. More specifically, we are limited to aftermarket roof and trunk bicycle rack.

@Patent1 Thanks for this. At least some closure lol. I wonder who in North America is going to install one of these first....

I bet if someone got a hold of pictures it could be replicated by a shop.

U-Haul will give you one for free...anyone live near Tempe, AZ ?

Your vehicle requires a custom-built hitch which we will gladly fabricate for you. If you are able to bring your vehicle to our Tempe, AZ Research & Development facility we'll provide you with a free U-Haul custom trailer hitch, including free installation, and a lifetime unlimited warranty in exchange for the use of your vehicle to fabricate the trailer hitch. We'll need the vehicle for two to three days.

Personally I've decided to go this route in the spring for my G70. Best price I've seen is from the US site with a 15% off code they sometimes drop. You'll also need the axel spacer for your bike which are also on their website. They have 1, 2, and 3 bike mounting solutions.

Talon Rack - 1 Bike

This looks cool/interesting...and terrifying. Have you had any issues with the suction cups coming loose and your bike flying off?

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Hahaha, I thought your reply at first here:

To chime in, I have a vacuum cup mount (these aren't suction cups technically) and I haven't had any issues. I've been on the highway over 80 without any sort of issues. If there was a hitch I would have gladly done that.

Okay, Genesis Canada is now showing a hitch for the G70 as well. I believe it a safe assumption that (1) the Aussie and Canadian hitches are identical, and (2) that either will fit our "American market" G70 sedans.
Assuming the Canadian border opens, and assuming one of you lads decides to take a road trip north, purchase two of the Canadian hitches. I will gladly reimburse the cost of the second unit. There's a bottle of very good Scotch in it for you!

I live in Canada, own a g70 and badly want a receiver on this car. How did you find this out?

Hi Truck,

I "built" a 2020 G70 on the Canadian website, which has interior accessories, exterior accessories and "frame accessories". The hitch is under frame accessories.

Good Luck!

PS: The Scotch offer still stands!....

I would have liked to have a hitch option in the US but at that price I much prefer the Yakima rack. I bought the rack for hauling bikes but I like that the roof rack gives me some versatility and options if I need to haul anything else too.

I had a chance Saturday to play around with the seasucker bike rack. Looks really cool. They had the system suctioned to a window and holding up a bike. But...it's flawed. The suction cups are great and hold on really well. But all you have to do is bump the raised rubber area designed to release the suction cup and it releases. Even the sales manager at the bike shop was surprised to see that happen.

Hmm weird, I have the Rock Bros version of the vacuum cups and they're pretty hard to remove.
