  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Black Door Pillars

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I personally hate chrome mouldings, but I think this one looks pretty nice.
Rather pricey though.

I like them, but I would prefer it if they were solid black without the border. That way they would blend in w/ my tinted windows better.

I agree. It would look much better without the white double lines.

Damn! I just put on chrome pillar covers and I'm still ambivalent about their appearance. I think these actually look better.

Just ordered a set. I think they will look great with Platinum.

Please post pics! I've been going back and forth on whether I should get these or not ever since I saw them on Korean Auto Imports a year ago.

I just ordered a set - off comes the chrome. If anybody wants the chrome let me know.

What makes this "ghetto"? It's quite understated unlike many mods I can think of.

This is my opinion of course. The pillars have white lines and the words Genesis on the bottom. I race motorcycles and don't like to don't like to advertise any company unless I get paid for it. I find the excitement of this car to be the "mystic" of the vehicle... keep people wondering. When I first bought it I took off everything that said Hyundai. To me, less is more. Beauty is no advertising, no words, solid colors. The pillars look aftermarket, something that K-mart might sell. Your vehicle should be a work of art, a statement of who your are... not an advertisement for a company.

My Genesis has the words "Genesis" on the rear of the car. Did you remove your Genesis logo? My wings also have the words "Genesis" on them.

My Genesis is not a statement of who I am, it is simply a car I purchased because I wanted a new one to replace my old one.

This reminds me of people who pimp out their rides with all kinds of add ons. Don't like the lines or the "Genesis" name. I think having words all over the car looks bad....don't care for those chrome badges on the back that say "Eurosport" and crap like that. Much prefer the original simple black B pillar.

It's a good thing I ordered these.

I foolishly thought I could remove the chrome covers without a problem.

Turns out not to be so easy: the black pillar surface is a lot more fragile than I would have imagined. I very carefully warmed the chrome with a hair dryer and worked a piece of nylon string (an extra guitar G string I had lying around) beneath it, hoping to cut thru the adhesive like on the trunk emblem. However, the band of 3M adhesive is quite wide and sticky and it became obvious that I would not be able to get the chrome off without damaging it. I peeled the top edge of the chrome away, put on my trusty visegrips, and pulled the chrome off with little trouble. However, the remaining band of adhesive residue was very difficult to get off. I finally got the knack too late - both of the pillars on the passenger side are marred: the matte black coating on the pillars is a fragile film of paint or plastic that peels if you're not VERY careful.

In any case, the new covers will hide the damage, but it's annoying nonetheless. I was ambivalent about the chrome when I put it on (my wife thought it was great, but I was less certain) - I should have followed my instincts.

Actually, I did remove the chrome Genesis on the trunk. Don't mind it in the wings, but didn't like the asymmetric letters.

Can't take credit for the idea. First saw it on Sayantsi's post. Couldn't figure out why the back of his car looked so clean...then I realized he removed the Genesis logo.

I want to stick Genesis right in everyone's face. It should look good on the pillars.

I followed a platinum like mine for a few miles the other day and, on this color, it is very hard to read the word Genesis on the rear from a following vehicle, even sitting at a stoplight. The chrome letters blend right into the car color.

It's been four months now without a license plate. I'll see how I can get away with it.

I put the "Tinted" pillar covers on. I thought the glossy black on my White 4.6 would look great with the tinted glass. I love it. I think the lines around it look classy and don't mind the word Genesis at all. Photo is attached or in my album.

Looks pretty sweet Rich! I still wish they would get rid of the border...I actually don't mind that is says Genesis after all. Too bad they don't include a small piece for the rear door window trim.
