If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey guys.

So i currently own a black genny..I got the opportunity to be able to swap it for a white one but i dunno if it's worth it. The reason is i really clean this genny A LOT....mainly because it's so easy to get dirty here in California and dusty. I can also see the small swirls around and it's really taking a lot of time and $ keeping it clean but once clean...it's SOOOOO SEXY!

I know you can also get swirl marks on white cars aswell....plus it's not as shiny when waxed compared to a black car.

Do any black genny owner regret getting black for this main purpose? I should have known before getting it lol i used to have other black cars but didn't really maintain it as the Genny. Any outputs on this would be appreciated it :)

I won't buy another black car for awhile - forgot what a pain they are to keep clean. Swirl marks are also a concern - I give it a full detail every 6 months which gets most of them out, but man, it's a lot of work.

Think my next one I will go with a light silver or grey.

My 2 cents.

I am 60 years old. I had a black car one time. They are good looking but a PITA to keep clean.

Not to mention that the sheet metal on a black car in the sun is usually about 50 degrees (F) hotter.

:p I'll have you know it will be a few more months before it's a frozen Tundra!:D

Thanks GUYS! i do love the black one but like i said...such a pain and getting those swirls out every now and then is costly too....i mean obviously the white needs to be waxed and all but still much easier than the black one. I will miss it indeed :( got so much looks and compliments.

I think i will swap it when the 2014 models come out....still no notice right? I don't really mind if it's the redesign one or not.

Here is my genny :)

I'm baffled, whoever and however many people you ask you will only get their opinion..
You have to live with the car.. Black, White, Red, Green or whatever, your the one signing on the dotted line, You decide...
White is Cool, Black is sexy", Titanium is Superb, Blue is Rich" The Red" is Luxurious"" All cars get dirty inside & out..

I don't have a black one, but mine is Twilight Blue which is pretty close. The one drawback to California, at least in the LA area, is the ever-present dust and crud in the air. I don't exaggerate when I say that within 3 hours after being washed Twilight Blue starts to look noticeably dusty even if it just sits in the driveway that whole time. Other cars I have owned were Burgundy Red, Fire-Engine Red, and Silver, and I never noticed the accumulation of crud unless there was a little rain to coalesce the dirt into spots. I imagine black shows the surface dirt even worse than dark blue. I'm considering buying Maguire's Ultimate Quick Detailer by the 55-gallon drum because of the rate I am using up spray bottles.

YES! i hate it....i mean the weather is lovely...don't get me wrong...but these bloooooody DUSTS!!

At least with the white one i won't have that problem...but i heard nightmares on white cars aswell...lol

There is however a way round the "parked dust" accumulation:-
Use a hermetically sealed car port.. install an auto car wash on Enter & Exit..
Your car will then look pristine after you park & when you drive Off..
FWIW:- enjoy the car, wash it when you feel like it..

All the snooty doctors, lawyers and real estate agents in San Marino and South Pas deal with the problem by taking their BMWs, Jags and MBs to the car wash every morning. I too have a truck, and I don't care if it looks dirty, but around here only losers and wanna-be's allow themselves to be seen in a dirty luxury car. In SoCal image is everything.

Sorry for the delay in my response:- I was in consultation with a patient :D
then I had to visit the sauna/massage @ The Hilton :D
finally I stopped by the Hand & Care car wash :D
Life's tough :D oh gotta rush, cocktails @ The Beverley
:):):):):):):):)

Wait a darn minute -- I grew up in San Marino!! Just ask me how humble I am!! I'll tell you. :D:D

I bought a BLACK 2006 Sonata in June of 2006. I was living in Sierra Vista, AZ at teh time, near the Mexican border. I could have bought a WHITE 2006 Sonata at the time but it did not have the sunroof and spoiler so I HAD to have the BLACK car. Looked cool but a MISTAKE.

Did I mention I lived in SE Arizona?

After many washes, waxes, dustings, etc I kept asking myself, "WHY oh WHY did you get the BLACK CAR?" My wife, who wanted the WHITE Sonata, also kept asking me, as I'd be out there, for the 4th time each week, "WHY oh WHY did you get the BLACK CAR?"

Living in SE Arizona did not help matters. While we had the Sonata's windows heavily tinted, it STILL GOT HOT. And the dark tint made it HARD TO SEE OUT the back window and side rear windows at night. But damn that car looked cool.

FAST FORWARD TO JUNE 2011 and my wife and I are the local Hyundai Dealer in Sierra Vista, AZ. We'd been looking at new cars and had test drive several Genesis sedans since they came out. That day we had test driven a BLACK one, and MAN DID IT LOOK COOL. I was really ready to buy, then my wife decided to beat me over the head with reality of a BLACK car again....I had to admit, she was convincing. SO I said, "NO BLACK CAR. EVER AGAIN". She smiled and we told the sales guy we wanted a WHITE prem/tech pkg Genny and would not take anything but a WHITE one. We had to wait almost 6 weeks but it was worth it. The white one RULES. And she's happy with it. I don't have to wash as frequently as I did that damn black Sonata. And the white Genny is great. Love the white pearly paint. So that's my 2 cents.

Proof that "Man with black car is looking to buy a white one."

OR:- Proof that "Man with a Black car listens to his wife:eek:"
