  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Blank Instrument Cluster

We had a GV70 with only 5k miles as a loaner. Nice enough but a gas guzzler and not as nice as gv60.
That appears to be the loaner of choice for dealers. Mine seems to have lots of GV70s sitting in the parking lot. Not equal to a GV60 but adequate. I have had an electrified G80, a GV80 and a GV70 as loaners so far. Seems weird to go to a gas station. My service manager told me that he had more than adequate loaner quantities but they are all ICE.

I got lucky. dealer gave me a loaner of a 2024 base GV60 with 1400 miles on it...which I'm sure they're regretting now, as it appears I'll have it for at least a month. I suspect they gave me a nice one as they figured they'd have my car back to me in 24 hours or so. whoopsie.

So to update my saga, the dealership finally got my GV60 back to me today with a new cluster...and so far everything seems good again finally. The concierge driver who came to my house to swap for my loaner also told me that the total bill was $11k which blows my mind. He assumed the cluster cost that much but said perhaps there was some labor in that total as well as they had it for a week.

So, issue started last October...after 3 separate trips to the dealer they finally ordered a new cluster which arrived in December to only find it was DOA so had to wait until they could find another one...and here we finally are.

yikes. thank goodness for warranty. hope this does solve the issue for you!

I'm wondering if that bill includes the loaner?

I am wondering if this happens outside the warranty:(
Will pick up mine in a couple of hours,- 2.5 months since the cluster was ordered...

You pay for it……….unless it is a recall

Yet another reason why it’s important for folks who have experienced the blank cluster problem to report it to NHTSA. It is a violation of FMVSS 101 to not have operable critical instrument displays, and many other Hyundai Corp vehicles, including other Genesis models have already been recalled for blank clusters, but the GV60 is not yet one of them.

I did file the complaint in December I think. And?
It is outrageous to wait for (crucial) part for 2.5 months... Also, I can not understand members, who are driving loaners (if available) while the car they paid/paying for is at the dealer for weeks...

Got my car back... According to the SM Screen is $7500+$400 labor

I did last December actually, and totally agree with you.

Wow...well it's good to know that if any us plan to own this out of warranty (I lease), that's a huge ticket item if it ever had to be replaced. Here I just assume the battery system replacement would be the potential big ticket item. ...and honestly I just assumed this is simply a wide touch screen monitor, but maybe the entire brain off the car is located within this assembly?

Just a heads up to those that got their cluster replaced. A week or so after getting my car back, the subscription on my Sirius XM was no longer working. Turns out the Radio ID changes with the new cluster, so I had to transfer service to the new ID. The dealer never bothered to inform me about this. So far, Genesis Connected Services is still working. Hopefully that doesn’t have issues too down the road.

We never got to use the free Sirius XM as car was in shop the whole time........We never extend the service anyway......to expensive compared to other streaming services you can carry with you.

My wife is a great negotiator. Got it real cheap…

After over 2 months waiting on my replacement screen, after filing a lemon law buyback request 2 weeks ago, Genesis agreed to buy back my GV60. Waiting on them to contact me with the offer details. Hopefully they learn that customers don't like waiting months for parts without their vehicle. No wonder loaners are so hard to get. Genesis of Kirkland, WA.

Expect to wait months to get a resolution from them.

fun fact. had a nice chat with my service advisor, still looks like my car will be at the dealership unable to move for at least a month while they await a second replacement cluster.

the reason they needed to order an entirely new cluster was that the one they received only displayed kilometers. I'm in the US, and they were unable to switch it.

Wow...I didn't know about the 'lemon law buyback'...is that a state thing or is that federal?

Did anyone ask if they could simply take from one of the GV60's they have sitting on the lot? I almost hate to hear the answer from dealerships for that, but you'd think they would want to take care of current customers.

Lemon laws are almost entirely at the state level. The only thing happening at the federal level is the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.
