  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just took delivery of a 2013 with the technology package and I'm having some issues with Bluetooth.
When I start the car it takes an unusually long time to pair with my phone. Which I could deal with I suppose. Is there a way to have the car play music via Bluetooth when a device is connected instead of needing to click through all the media inputs?
I'd like to turn on the car and have the last used media input remain selected. If I'm listening to the radio, a CD, or Bluetooth, the car always plays satellite radio when it's first turned on.

Is there anything that can be done about this?
Am I overlooking a setting or something?

I have similar issues except my iPhone Xs frequently fails the pairing process. So about once every 2-3 times I start the car, I have to go through the entire re-pairing process in order for the phone to connect successfully. This is super frustrating, and the usb/aux cables are only available from some company with a 5-6 week shipping time at roughly 20 bucks with very spotty reviews.

I'd also like it to connect to the most recently used input when starting the car, but it just goes to anything except Bluetooth.

Your phone may be a lot newer than your car, (I can’t really figure out what model car you have since there is nothing in your profile) so this problem may not be surprising. Is there a software update for your car?

Is it possible to do a software/firmware upgrade for a Genesis Sedan 2013? I called two dealerships in my area, talked with the service reps and they didn't think it was possible. They were no help.

I've got a 2013 and have been using BT with no issues for 18 months. The car always starts with XM, then about 15-20 seconds in, the BT shows up on the display and I know BT is activated. Hit the button to switch from CD to AUX. Never had any trouble pairing other devices, except that you cannot do it while car is in drive.

BT has been working great, only yesterday, BT connected as usual, but then drops the signal from my phone after awhile. iPhone is still playing my audiobook and BT is still showing as active on the display, but no longer playing and I can't get exit out of BT and just listen on the phone. It looks like everything is still connected, just no volume?

Any ideas on how to fix this? I use this feature every day and I'm about to go on 12 hour road trip. Need a solution fast.

I have a 2013 R-Spec and a Samsung Note 8 phone. Bluetooth music playback sounds fine, but all Bluetooth phone calls have very poor quality. The connection itself is stable and does not drop. Any tweaks to improve phone call quality would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yes it is possible for the media Bluetooth connection to remain set, however there is a trick/habit you have to get into. Once connected you have to power off the stereo BEFORE you shut the car off, then the next time you get in WAIT until about 15 second have passed AFTER you see the little Bluetooth connection indicated on your phone. then when you turn the power on it should be right back to your phone paired media. I have a 2013 also and agree that the pairing is oddly slow, especially when compared to my wife's 2013 sonata that is actually able to hijack my cell phone connection if we start our cars at the same time and we are both in the driveway. Additionally, I do not like how I cannot control anything on my android phone from the steering wheel controls, wifes car, same year, works as you would expect the controls to work, you can skip songs, pause and switch apps. Weird.

if i understand your issue correctly here is the most likely issue and solution.
If you are using the fancy ipod/ apple combo cable thingy to charge your phone at the same time that is the issue. Either your cable is bad or the port on your phone has gunk in it and keeps getting an interrupted aux connection. try just using a 12v lighter and lightning cable for charging and straight bluetooth.
