  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi everyone,

I often get a message on the screen saying that the contacts on my phone have changed and it asks me if I want to update the contact info on the Genesis. The answer is always yes.

It is a little bit annoying to always be prompted with that question.

I am wondering if there is a way of setting a default so that this question is not always posed?

You can try this as I have mine set to not update.

Go to Settings/Bluetooth/ Auto Download - Check the box that says "Contacts". Not sure if this will help or not but give it a try. It is located in the manual at page 140.

Thanks for the reply.

But it is good to have contacts updated.

It is not good to be constantly asked to reply to the prompt.

This is probably something Hyundai should change.

Strange, every time I get in and my bluetooth connects, it says "downloading contacts" which takes only a few seconds. Guess what I am trying to say is it does so automatically without my intervention.

The first time I paired my phone (multiple Android phones in this case), there was a prompt on my phone asking me if I wanted to download contacts, and there was also a box on the phone that said "do not ask me again" (or something to that effect). I always make sure I allow contact download, and also make sure to check to stop it from asking me every time.

If you happen to be on an Android phone and you didn't click that the first time, on my primary Lollipop (5.1) phone I can do the following on the phone:

1. Settings
2. Bluetooth
3. Select "Genesis" under "paired devices"
4. Click on the little gear icon
5. On mine, I see three options: "Phone Audio", "Media Audio", and "Contacts". If you don't see all three, you can click "Forget" to forget the Genesis, which will cause the prompt to be displayed again the next time you get in your car, as your Genesis will try to connect again to your phone.
6. Re-pair as necessary, taking care to click on the box to allow contact sharing

Its not really updating your contacts. I think its updating your recent call list.
But im not sure.

It really does update contacts, not just recent calls. Source: it doesn't ask when I haven't changed contacts.

Hmmmm, i havent added/removed any contacts in a few days and it tells me almost everyday to update my contacts.

Same here, I have not updated any in months and yet every day it says downloading contacts.

For those who are asked to update regardless of actual contact changes, what platform are you on? Android, Windows, iOS? The latter here, iPhone 6 and I'm only asked when contact changes are made.
