If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Since the dealer has not been able to help me, I was hoping an owner could.

1)Whenever I make a call the person says that their voice always echoes.

2) When a second call comes in while on the phone, the screen gives me the option of ignoring the 2nd call or picking it up (I forget the actual words) In any case, when I push the round knob for either choice, neither works. I can only continue my original call. The only way to take the 2nd call is by using the functions on the actual phone.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

I have the same issues. What phone are you using?

I don't think there is anything you can do at this point about there voice echoing as they say. My friends have said the same thing, and the only way I can improve this is to turn the speaker volume down low. Sometimes hard to hear to avoid their echo, but the quiet Genesis makes it easier to bear. It's just the sound coming out your speakers getting picked up by the mic above.

I don't know about your second issue, sorry.:(

I occasionally have the same problem as your first one, i don't even get the screen that prompts me when another call come in, didn't know that was a feature i switch over on my cell

I dropped my car off at the dealership today for a bunch of issues - one of them being the Bluetooth echo; exactly as you described it. Same thing with unable to switch to a second call. They previously worked on the car, and the problem was fixed after they swapped the head unit, but it has reoccurred again.

I was told it wasn't going to change, aka "working as intended"

Is anyone else having similar issues?

echoing is an ongoing issue for me as well. What is challenging to understand is that it's not all of the time. I use a BlackBerry Pearl and the only way i can eliminate the echo when it occurs is to make the call private. There is no rhyme or reason as to why it echos when it does.

A few things pop into mind:

1.) Make sure the BB has the latest software installed, as there was an issue a couple of years ago about echoing with BT that was fixed via software.

2.) If there's a separate volume control on the BB Bluetooth profile, try turning up the volume on the phone and the Genesis volume (while in a call) down.

3.) Try turning off Echo Control on the BB, since I think the integrated BT may do that already and they're conflicting.

4.) Try unpairing and re-pairing the phone.

5.) Try turning off 3G and see if there's any difference.

I'm still experiencing this problem with my curve - Even after changing the OS, all possible settings - hopping over to my local wireless store for them to play around with it on multiple different curves, the symptoms still appear

Whenever I make a call to someone, they'll hear themselves echo. If I receive the call, there's absolutely no echo, with volume even cranked up all the way.

I've opened a case with Hyundai consumer affairs, we'll see how they handle it.

Well, after numerous head unit changes and update to the latest DIS system, the symptoms still appear. It must be something with the DIS system, as the Genesis loaner (p+) has no issues with echo.

I was able to recreate the echo with a Samsung phone as well - does anyone else have similar issues? If so, what phone are you utilizing?

Hyundai definitely needs to hop on top of this.... I can't keep telling people I call to call me back to eliminate echo, it's ridiculous

To be continued...

I use iPhone, and no one complained about an echo problem.
Of course, this doesn't meant that there's no echo.
I'll have to check for myself sometime.

I do handsfree tuning for a certain auto group's personal calling systems, and BT phone calling is part of it.
There's an algorithm that cancels the echo by calculating the latency(delay) in speaker-to-mic and canceling the input that goes back into the mic.
I would say it's a poorly tuned system. Either that or a phone specific problem.

I have a Samsung Intrepid WM6.5 device that works wonderful. The only thing I can actually think of is that your mic on your phone is also receiving a signal. So when the person talks their voice is coming through the mic on the phone and back into their ear.

Try calling someone with your finger over the mic on the phone. Also try covering up the mic in the car. Start some process of elimination.

The people i call also complain that they hear their voice echo back to them. I of course hear no echo at all. I use an iphone 3gs. Love to know the fix for this problem.

thanks

Funny, I asked my friend if he hears any echo when I call him with my iPhone 3G via BT, and he said no. No echo at all.
He can tell that I'm in a small space(cabin), but he says the sound quality is fine.

Update:

After multiple head unit replacements, the problem isn't resolved. I am able to replicate the issue with multiple phones. My local service director can't do anything else, it's up to Hyundai. I talked with our local consumer affairs representative, initials J.P. - Hyundai is not willing to fix the problem. They pretty much said tough luck, get another phone that works. When mentioning that other people are having similar issues, I was advised that Hyundai wouldn't do anything.

My next step will be letters to the heads at Hyundai. This is not acceptable, especially for their current flagship model. It needs to be resolved. No customer should have to run after them to get the problem fixed like this, and to top it of be told to go get another phone when a few new model phones exhibit the same symptoms.

Even after providing as much information as I could, they're not willing to fix whatever issues the DIS system is having. And it is DIS-specific. I wasn't able to replicate the problem on another model Genesis (P+), Bluetooth worked perfectly.

I've noticed the problem is more apparent when you have the volume (music and Bluetooth volume) over 20 - or even cranked up to 35. If some of you could try this with your your phone, and report back here, that would be helpful. :)

As an engineer with experience in Handsfree tuning, I was going to say that it's really hard to eliminate all phone-specific problems,
but then I saw your post that the symptom doesn't occur on the premium plus system.
It must be a poor tuning and/or poor software design from Harman's side.

But either way, I'm afraid the chances of getting the issue resolved is very slim. :(
Either the developers/engineers are gonna have to retune the whole thing, or come up with a new s/w design. Which they won't do most likely until the next gen DIS.

I'll throw in my 23 cents here. I have had the echoing problem with my cell phone....but, not in the vehicle. A phone tech told me that it can be a function of the wirless telephoine system that you're calling on. My problem manifests itself as an echo of my voice that I hear when calling from one calling area to another, but not a call within the area that I'm in.

Echoing can often happen from the interface at the other end...especially if the other side is also using a speaker phone. For example, when my friend calls me on his car's speaker phone (not a Genesis), I can not use my home speaker phone...too much echoing. If he is using his phone directly we don't have a problem.

Unfortunately, that's how it will probably play out. The cost of fixing the problem outweighs the problem itself.

Standing 15 feet away from the car connected with bluetooth, echo on the other end still occurs. Doesn't matter with any phones on the other end either.

It's going to be tough tossing the crackberry, but I think that is going to be my only alternative to this problem
