  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Was wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue??

I have had my Genesis for a year now and I do love it besides that you can't turn of the ESC! My problem is with the bluetooth connection. I have had it connected to multiple phones with no issues. I got the HTC Tilt 2 from at&t and now I have to answer the phone from the phone. The button on the stearing wheel will end the call but will not pick it up. No screen comes up to answer the call through the DIS. And when you are in the call the dialing screen no longer appears so you can't end the call, dial a number (as in hitting 7 to delete a message), or switch to a private call. You can still hit the mode button on the stearing wheel to switch to a private call.

The biggest problem is I leave my phone in my pocket and the only way to take a call now is to have the phone in hand and answer it manually.

Note: The dealership did recently do an update to the DIS but if I connect my old HTC Tilt 1 everything is normal. Only when I use my Tilt 2 do I have the problem.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Re: Bluetooth Issue??

Did you check the Bluetooth manufacturer's website for their phone compatibility list? I have posted the link before on this forum, but don't have it right now.

Checked the site and my phone under the Touch Pro 2 moniker is listed as compatible.

Update: My phone connected normally during one drive. I didn't do anything on the phone or on the system. It hasn't happened since.

Tried to search this blog for your posting of the Bluetooth manufacturer link, but was unsuccessful. Can you please provide again?

Thanks,

Update:

This is strange. First off I returned my phone for a identical replacement and the same thing still happens. Secondly I have reflashed the ROM on the phone and the same thing still happens.

I have also narrowed the problem down. The phone does not work correct with auto connect or manual connect. But if you let auto connect, connect the phone then you turn off or reset the phone when it comes back on it connects again and works normally. Doing this before starting the car as in resetting the phone before letting it connect first doesn't work. The car has to connect then I have to reset the device. Very strange. Problem is either way I have to have the phone out of my pocket and to answer the phone I have to look at the phone.

Anyone else experience the same thing??

It really sounds like its the phone - no clue as to why the new one does this and the old one doesn't. Do Tilt owners have BT problems with other cars? Is there a phone setting to stay connected to the car?

The phone stays connected that isn't the problem. The problem is that it doesn't connect with full functionality. I am not sure what could cause that kind of a problem.

I've been doing some limited research on this and, while I do not yet have a solution, it may be that the problem is due to the fact that the Tilt 2 does not utilize a Microsoft Bluetooth stack, but rather a Widcomm Bluetooth stack. I am told that the latter is superior in certain ways, but if you check the discussion boards on "tilt 2 bluetooth problems" you see that this problem and other Bluetooth problems are listed for the Tilt 2. I know that the quality of the connection between my Tilt 2 and both of my Bluetooth earbuds is significantly worse on the Tilt 2 than it was on my previous Tilt. It is quite possible that a tweak to the registry on the Tilt 2 will fix the problem, but I am still researching that and have not yet tried anything. In time, particularly in future models of the Genesis, they will probably make their system more compatible with the Widcomm stack, but whether Hyundai will address this problem in time to help us is problematic.

Correction to my earlier post: apparently the reference should not be to "Widcomm" but to "Broadcom." Posts elsewhere indicate that the Tilt 2 uses Broadcom bluetooth chip and software, unlike the original Tilt that used Microsoft versions of same. Solution is probably going to have to come from HTC/AT&T and not Hyundai, but we'll see.

Just "upgraded" from ATT Tilt to the ATT Tilt2. Paired the phone to the car without an issue, but I was not able to answer an incoming call. I like my tech, ie my car and my phone but this is a serious fly in the ointment. It's like meeting the woman on your dreams and having your son hate her. Sure it's a workable situation but it could be so much better. It seems to me that if the Tilt could interface with the care without issue, it's technologically superior cousin may be able to do so. I hope it's just a software issue that can be tweaked. I will try to get some input from the http://www.xda-developers.com/ people. They are usually months ahead of att when it comes to these sorts of things.

I have found that if I turn off data connect, my Tilt2 works properly with my Genesis 4.6 w/Tech. There are some registry hacks that supposedly fix the problem but they didn't work for me.

Could you please elaborate on what you mean by "turn off data connect" and how to do that? Thanks.

If you go to settings on touchflo, then communications, you can turn off the Data Connection. But it doesn't stay off. It will turn on again on its own. Not sure how to keep it off. Anyone else have a solution for this problem?
