  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Boost on 3.8

Fun Fact...

Benny Hill owned an Opel GT.

Despite it's 67 HP engine and 2,000lb weight.

he consistently bragged to others how he's 1 second faster then
all others, even the manufacturer.

Most others thought he was just a nutter and dismissed his outrageous
claims of 4.6 second 0-60 times.

perhaps he worked too much on his car and the exhaust fumes
altered his perception on reality. It's unfortunate we may never know

There were also rumors of Alien technology in his Hyundai er Opel GT.
This may be the only explanation to verify the faster then possible
0-60 times.

Another theory is pixie dust... while extremely rare its entirely possible.
Yet again we don't know if it was sprinkled or ingested.

RIP Benny !

Um, I realize you guys are enjoying a circle-jerk, but I never said 4.6 sec 0-60 was fast as in "it's the fastest car around, bring it on" fast. There are faster cars to be had, and 4.6 is not even lightning fast by today's standards.

My point was very simple: The car is plenty fast enough 0-60 in the real world, better handling than 99% of all cars, it's faster than your cars and you're the ones running your mouths, it's a true sports car and not a family truckster, and in point of fact, it would take three times the money or more to have a stock car of any brand that's faster AND prettier AND better handling AND more unique AND as reliable AND have as good mileage, etc, etc.

You guys are soooo easy to play. What else you got?

Prettier??? LMAO. Because that's not a subjective category.

I now have a clear vision of this TopGear character revving up at red lights, racing from light to light because his car is so fast, all while on the way to the weekly car meet at Sonic.

I found his secret....

Fresh coat of wax and shell v-power.

Simple convo about boost and you had to brag 4.6...

I guess its too late for you to suck it up and say you have no proof.

Ppp

He-he :D I love how easy it is to make you two prove you have nothing to say. Keep trying.

I'm not even going to bother to call B.S. on the 4.6 sec. 0-60 time you claim, but I will point out that the 2013 R-Spec coupe has another 40HP, 30 ft./lb., an improved shifter and was tested at 5.3 sec. 0-60.

So while you can go on and on about your car doing 4.6 seconds, the magazine guys who test cars for living can't drive, blah, blah, blah, the fact is, you have not posted a time slip to back up that claim and the 2013 coupe has more power, more torque, a better shifter and still will not out run a 5.0 Mustang. Oh, and the Mustang doesn't cost much more. Hell, for less than double the cost of even your 2012, you can buy a ZL1 Camaro.
Now if you want to talk "3X the money or more", you're approaching six figure cash, and son, your car isn't even in that that class, sorry.

Exactly. Post time slips. This will put an end to all of this.

Wow, you Sedan guys are really angry. Must be a pattern baldness thing. I remember driving a sedan and having a chip on my shoulder about real sports cars. That must be what's going on here. It's amusing.

Since you went to the trouble to try to make a semi-intelligent argument, "fast55" (ironic that you think your 55 is special), I'll be brief and ignore ALL the ridiculous logical fallacies in your "challenge", such as presuming truth because it was in consumer media.

I'll just ask you to explain why, since you say a 13 has more power and supposedly better shifting stock (mine is a late-year 12 upgrade for one thing), how come your journalist quoted time gives the same 5.3 time as a 2011 model tested by Edmund's two years earlier, and a slower time than CNET review in 2011, at 5.2? The only answer could be the driver, the gas, etc. Or worse, they're just quoting numbers from junkets. I've never seen any time slips posted by them. The Edmund's video just shows a rather slow run and a screen overlay of a time. Doesn't count as proof in any science we depend on.

Aside from your lousy "argument", maybe my car is somehow a special "Christine" like you presume yours is. Maybe I just take great care of it. Maybe I have learned how to get the most out of it, because like I originally said, "on a good day" I can hit 4.6. I've beaten new V8 cars like the ones you mention and faster, not that you will believe it. Has it ever occurred to you that driver skill has anything to do with this?

But please, tell me how fast your 55 is, prove to me you actually have one, that you could afford one, and be sure to tell me why I should believe a word you say. Even if I do post slips, you'll just go on and on about how it's some conspiracy I made up, etc. Again, not my problem. I'm enjoying the attention you're all lavishing on me, though.

You argue like a child. I hope nobody even bothers interacting with you anymore. For anybody to think for one second that any production car that Hyundai makes is a "real sports car" is absurd and not worth the time talking to.

You know, it's pretty comical you'd come on here making the claims you have, with nothing to back them up, then bark at anyone who dares doubt you. Who's the angry one??

How you come up with "semi-intelligent" argument is beyond me when I quoted Hyundai's own numbers for horsepower and torque for your car VS a 2013 model. I don't claim a thing, those are factory numbers. Are you seriously going to go down the "(mine is a late-year 12 upgrade for one thing)" road and claim that your car is that one miraculous 2012 that is somehow "upgraded" to 2013 spec's?? Really??

As far as my car being "special", it's not. Currently at 500WHP it's actually fairly mild for a W211. I've already posted pictures of my "other" supercharged E55 and could post more pictures of the W211 and more, but I'm not the one dropping turds on someone else's thread making off topic claims. Personally, I couldn't care less if you believe anything I say. My guess is you're very young, you spent more than you could really afford buying what you have, and really wish the rest of the board was as impressed by your car as apparently you are.

They aren't. ;)

'Bye now.

Interesting story.

We have this brain surgeon who constantly screws up his Saturn sky turbo.
He actually made the claim he was at a light next to CTS-V and the CTS-V
couldn't keep up.

Like Fast said the coupe and sedan are decent cars not magical like you make the coupe out to be.

have a nice day !

ppp

Guys can we get back on topic here?

We all know you have a 12" johnson, date supermodels, and daily drive Enzos.

apparently "boost" means something different than i thot it did ...

I have had four Genesis are are my comments on their acceleration:

2009 4.6: My previous ride was an '05 Cadillac CTS-V which was much faster. Nevertheless, felt the 4.6 was more than adequate. A little sluggish transmission, but a SprintBooster fixed that.
2011 4.6: Even though it had just 10 more hp than the '09 it felt like much more. Still transmission was sluggish and again SprintBooster fixed that.
2012 5.0: Really felt the torque management/reduction in first gear. It was almost intolerable. Once the car was rolling its passing acceleration was as quick, it seemed, as the CTS-V.
2013 3.8: This is a real sleeper. It does not have the excessive torque management of the 5.0 and feels quicker off the line. Passing acceleration is not as brutal as the 5.0, but it is no slouch. Feels as quick as the 4.6, plus it handles better and has better gas mileage.
