  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

We bought a '12 white w/saddle interior 3.8 with premium & tech packages today. 15700 miles. It was at a Ford dealer. Anyway, I have one question. The auto parking brake. The book says to push the button to turn the brake on and pull to release it. When I push it nothing happens. But when I pull it the light comes on and then goes off if I push it or put the car in gear. So it seems to be backwards from the book. Am I missing something?

Congrats and :welcome: to the forums :grouphug:

I love the saddle interior...really looks great. You'll find the community to be very helpful should you have any questions.

On my 2011 I push to set the brake while holding foot pedal down. It auto releases when put in gear. The best way to enjoy the features of your car and not get frustrated is to read and thoroughly study the manual, the DIS manual and the maintenance information. It took weeks for my wife and I to master all the features including the voice commands.

Either the light's backward or the switch is backward on mine. I hold my foot on the brake and push the button and nothing visible happens. If I pull the button the PB light comes on. Pushing the button or putting it in gear causes the light to go out. I guess I need to park on an incline, put it in neutral and see which way stops it. Don't know much about the history of the car except what shows on carfax. That shows it was bought and serviced at a local Atlanta Hyundai dealer. The Ford sales guy said the people owned a business and traded the Genesis and a truck for a F450 truck for their business. This was the wife's car. I traded our '12 Toyota Rav4 Limited w/28000 miles for a net of about $5000 otd. I say net because I just moved to Georgia and they just started a new title tax. If I had registered the Rav4 I would have paid 6.75% of book value. That's close to $1400. By trading first we only paid $189 tax on the difference. Not a bad deal for new car purchases. You pay the title tax instead of sales tax then that exempts you from annual ad valorem tax. We had been looking for something with memory seats. We owned a '07 Azera for 5 years and it was a great car. Thought we wanted an suv but we were not happy with it. The Limited was nice but it had few of the Azera features . My wife is 5' and I'm 6' so the memory is very handy. I wasn't expecting to find a technology package for this $ so I'm pleased. The Genesis is very quiet and smooth. Lots of bells & whistles. I've been studying the manuals and there's a lot to learn. Thanks for the reply's.

Congratulations on your purchase and welcome. I am sure you will love the ride and enjoy the very informative forum.

Congrats.. I have the same car as you but with black interior.. The saddle is nice.

I am pretty sure I pull out from the bottom of the switch to set the brake and push in the top of the switch to release.

Welcome! Enjoy your new-to-you car.
:D

That's exactly how mine appears to work. The book says to apply brake press "A", to release pull "A". Wouldn't be the first time an owners manual was wrong. Thanks, that makes me feel better. A lot to learn on this car but I love it so far.

I have a 2011 4.6 with tech and I press it to set parking brake as per page 5-21 in my manual. Maybe model years and or v8 vs. v6 are different.

Best wishes on your new G! One thing comes to mind. Your '12 Tech model does not stream Bluetooth audio. Bad oversight on Hyundai's part.

No problem for us. The Rav4 had that feature and we never used it.

Good for you. I know some folks who never turn off AM talk radio.

Me, I use BT streaming more often than the XM radio. With the various smartphone apps available, one can listen to radio stations all over the globe. I'll probably cancel XM soon. Who needs that extra annual cost?
