  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Bought used Genesis 4.6L - Steering is vibrating

Glass of water is no problem. Would you be willing to have a circumcision performed on you in the back seat while your car is being driven over a bumpy road? Your friend can sit in the front seat and watch.

Challenge accepted! :p

Too late, already had one.

I have no vibration in my 2009 4.6 even with the AC on. Mine is smooth as a babies butt.

However, my car wants to pull right and the alignment and tire pressure is spot on. That sucks lol

I had the same problem years ago. Swap the front tires or put them on the rear. It is radial pull.

Have front hubs checked-or steering knuckles.

Since your initial post mentioned the vibration at idle (in Drive, if I recall) and not at speed, could it just be something as simple as the idle RPMs being set just a smidge too low? I had that issue on a previous car (not my '09 Genesis, that's always been smooth since day 1).

I had a similar problem when I bought a used 2011 4.6. Slight vibration at highway speed. When I put winter tires on it the problem was gone. I noticed the rear tires were worn and one had flat spots on it. I wouldn't noticed the flat spots but there was some saw dust on my floor that showed the spots after rolling them across the floor.

I also have this problem on the highway which is not even. Too much vibration on the steering wheel, should I bring it to the dealer and have it fixed?

I actually had the same problem for a while with my '09 4.6. I had to take my car to the dealership the other day after the TPMS warning came on (as I have nitrogen in my tires), and after the dealer topped all of the tires off there is barely any vibration at all when driving on the highway anymore... The steering wheel was vibrating significantly on the highway months before the TPMS warning came on, so even if your tires aren't severely under-inflated filling all of them back up to spec might help. It's certainly worth a shot!
