  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Here is the link. There is audio too. It was a 2009..... If you have the common sense to call 911 you would think putting the car in neutral would be the very first thing to do!

The one piece of advice I'm not enamored by is the "gently start to brake."

• First, try to hit the pedal to make sure nothing is forcing it down.

• Next, PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL IMMEDIATELY, and gently start to brake, being aware of the traffic around you, and pull the car to the side of the street or road as soon as possible.

I think a lot of people are getting into trouble because they "gently" braked. You should mash the brake pedal and get the car stopped as quickly as possible. The brakes have to do at least double the work to stop a vehicle with the throttle fully activated and if you feather the brakes too long they will overheat and become considerably less effective. This is less of a concern once you've switched to neutral but people's first reaction is to hit the brakes so they should do that right.
