  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Brought home the R-Spec!

I think I've decided against the r-spec, for several reasons. First, the dealerships here won't budge off the MSRP, which even for an in-demand car is ridiculous. Second, I don't like the wheels - I think they look a little cheesy. Also, I like the wood steering wheel. Seems like there is a lot more room to negotiate on the regular V-8.

Sorry to hear about the wing package. I will say, that shows the general incompetence of Shawnee Mission Hyundai I experienced when dealing with them. They couldn't coordinate, played games and didn't know anything about the product they were selling; this was part of the reason I went elsewhere for my car.

If I were you, I'd order the new emblem (expedited shipping) have it installed, and send them the bill for the difference between the $100 and your costs. If they don't pay, consider posting on DealerRater.com (SMH staff cherish that rating when you speak to them).

The big question is - did you get it yet?

So it is not here yet! Ahhh.. I was very disappointed to not be able to take pictures and most of all to not be able to drive it. No call from the truck driver yet -- hopefully soon.

I was able to get the correct emblem for a very reasonable price from a local dealership -- this way I did not have to wait for it to come in the mail.

I will be sure to let everyone know when it arrives!

Cheers,
Newman

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Newman,
If I read correctly you have new wheels for your R Spec. What size and offset are you putting on and do you know the offset of the original 19 inchers?
Thanks

Hi Skywagon -

The offset of the orginial Rspec wheels are 45mm. My aftermarket wheels are 35mm. The Genesis will take offsets of 35-45mm. My wheels are also 19".. 19x8.5 to be exact. I will be running 245/45 tires so I think that I have just a tad more side wall than the optional Bridgestone Potenza's. I went with Conti Extreme Contact DW.

Cheers,
Newman

Newman,
Thanks much. Short of taking the wheel off and looking inside I had thought Hyundai had classified that number. I'm contemplating some 19x9s with a 37mm offset. Don't know if the wheel wells can handle this but would like to put on some 275/40s. 265/40s would be better but I can't seem to find any except for some Goodyear racing tires. Yes, I like fat tires.....mental illness is a terrible thing!!
Thanks again.

My pleasure. I am almost certain that another forum member, Jastylr, has 20x10 on his back wheels. He definitely has 20" wheels and they are at least 9.5 wide. You can see on his profile page. I purchased the same wheels as he did (brand and model, not size) as I am a copycat so I can say for sure that his are 35 mm offset as well.

I also have the part number for adjustable TPMS sensors that will fit custom wheels if you need them. The stock Hyundai would not fit my wheels.

Newman

Heads up on the zag.com pricing (42,808.00 Incl. 1500.00 rebate),which is very close to Hyundai circle pricing. Dealers that are listed on the zag.com website or the ones they lead you to are contractually obligated to give you the zag.com price, lest they be removed from zag.com. So there is no reason anyone cannot recieve up to 4 to 5 grand off MSRP. Remember motozuma.com as well...

Now the circle price they can refuse you as it is up to the dealer to allow it or not.

* Not all dealers are affiliated with zag.com,
just the ones the site leads you to.

so it finally arrived! My Black R-Spec is sitting in my driveway (covered). Since it just came off a truck I have some cleanup to do. Once I clay and wax it I will post pictures.

The family (wife, 8 year old, 6 year old and 4 month old) all went out for a brief test drive. Awesome power (never even got to 3k rpm), awesome quiet, amazing road feel, and sweet handling. Definitely a fan!

More to come...

Cheers

Congrats Newman! You'll love every second of that car. Don't you just love the wheels in person?!? :D

Actually I do! They are very nice. Much better than photo's. So now I am torn - I love my new wheels too. I may still sell the stock or I might possibly keep both and alternate. After all, we do get about 10 days of rain here during winter... Is that enough justification?

When I get a chance I will take some pictures with stock in back and new in front and post for others to comment on as well.

Cheers,
Newman

What are you doing posting? Shouldn't you be out waxing your new car and preparing it for pictures for us to drool over?

And all that could be hears in response was the faint sound of a dual-action orbital polisher in the background...

Congrads!

Where are you located btw? There are only black ones in my whole state of IL.
So I just placed my order today for the same as your choice, From Pugi Hyundai.
Out of the five dealers I checked out Pugi was leaps and bounds ahead of anyone else.

That's funny, I work for an Illinois dealer, and our r-spec is titanium/black!

Congrats Newman! Can't wait to see the pics regardless of what wheels you choose to use first.

For what it's worth.....today I ordered new wheels and tires for my car. Here's a link to the wheels,

http://www.wheelstudio.com/view-wheel/5zigen-racing-wheels/5zigen-pro-engine-zr520-chrome-silver

I went with the 19x9s with a 37mm offset. Yes they are wide. I subscribed to Rimsntires. They have a web site that if you pop 11 dollars they give you an expanded briefing on what you can get away with. I'm putting on Bridgestone Potenza RE 050As 275/40s. 1.5 inches wider than stock. Eric, the gent that I talked to at the above shop, did an excellent job of warning me about potential problems. I checked out his concerns as well as the ones I came up with and I should be OK. The only concern is the edge of the wheel perhaps touching the liner of the wheel well almost directly behind the headlights during a full lock turn. However, the material in the wheel well has a lot of give...very soft. Will probably be a week, at least, before I see them.

Awesome looking wheels! Can't wait to see them installed.

Thanks, when they're done I'll post some pictures. I've determined that if one goes with this wide a wheel and tire one needs to stay in the in the high 30's for offset and one must choose a wheel without a lip. I'm holding my breath....'ll see?!?!
