A few years ago I took a Route 66 tour from Lubbock to Santa Monica. I was in a new Caddy STS (rental). With the family on board we cruised between 80 - 100 frequently and we were passed frequently. No drama, just
It was nice to see all of the parts of Americana and it was also nice to make good time. Except for the crowded North East corridor, most places I've driven have at least a few highways capable of supporting 85+ speed limits. Even the NJ Turnpike was designed with 75 mph speed limits in mind in the 1950s. With modern cars even that highway could easily support 85+.
