If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Buy a 2011 4.6 discounted or wait for a 2012?

my '11 ride perfect to me. matter of preference and where you live. the sport side to this suspension setup confuses people. they look and feel this car and think "Buick" or "Lexus" ride. not Infiniti or BMW but it rides more like those than a hwy cruiser.

I’ve been reading all the great information everyone has been posting for a few months and wanted to dive in as I’m getting ready to make a decision on a 2011 Genesis V8.

I have been getting some offers and wanted to run them by you guys to get some feed back. The latest is 38,645 ….includes destination ...but notTax, Tags and docs…now to find out what I can get on the trade in….

I have another for 39,990 but he will give me 130% of Kelly book value (fair)….on my 06 Azera….

Any help would be great….also looking to lease, which I didn’t mention to them …what type of add on if any will the dealership want me to pony up for this option…
Thanks again
Joe

I just got back from test driving a 2011 4.6. I may go with the 11 rather than the 12 if the price is right. A Houston dealership has made the offer of $38,200 (plus TT&L) with the Continental Extreme Contact DWS Tires. I may counter offer for a price with the 6 yr/100k/0 deduct Platinum Plan warranty. Any suggestions on how much to add for that plan?

The main thing I didn't like about the car was the steering wheel seemed rather stiff when turning it (even in small amounts). Maybe I am just not used to it. Also, it seemed to hesitate when you give it gas.

Any thoughts?

In advance, thanks.

both things struck me as odd at first. after a few thousand miles i have to say i don't notice either, or they aren't doing it anymore ?? i just don't know lol

The ride quality on my 09 4.6 is too bouncy. I will wait and test the 2012 with the revised suspension before I make any decision.

Both the OEM Dunlop's and Continental Extreme's DWS are Ultra High Performance Tires and with these tires it is normal for the steering to feel
stiff. If you change to a Grand Touring or the Michelin V rated passenger tire you will find the steering will not be as stiff.

2011 Look at the Invoiuce Date on the sticker!!!!

I had committed to a 2011 4.8 and hoped to take delivery this weekend....price was good, dealer was great......invoice date on the sticker said July 2010...car had been sitting at the dealer since last July...that's 10 months, add 2 months for the boat to bring it from Korea and now it's a new 1 year old car....called around to other dealers looking for one that hadn't been sitting around as long and all seemed to be July/Aug. invoice dates. Maybe the problem is color, my wife wants the Champagne Metallic

Saw the May 25th announcement about 2012's shipping and opt'ed out on the 2011....now the big question is when can I get a 2012 Champagne.....

Is anyone else seeing this? Problem is I'll pay more for the 2012 but I'm thinking that even with a good price for the 2011.....in just a few short weeks when 2012 become available the depreciation on my so called new 2011 will take a big hit.

Would appreciate anyone's opinion on this....is anyone else seeing these 2011 special deals for cars that have been on the late for 6 to 10 months. Would you buy a new 1 year old car?

Thanks

i recently considered buying a 2011 4.6 after months of waiting to buy a used 2010 (we apparently are in a 16 yr high for used car prices). dealer gave me the usaa/zag price with competitive, military, and graduation incentives of 35750 + 450 for trading for the color combo i wanted. final price with taxes/fees was going to be just north of 40k. just too much. if he could have done a total of 37k i probably would have taken it.

now, i'm waiting on the sidelines again. wishing i had a genesis to drive.

Me, personally? No way - not unless they discounted about $4 grand off a 2011 price (which are already selling for $6 grand or so below sticker LOL).

But that's me, personally. The idiot dealer tried to start a 2010 negotiation with "Well... sticker is what, $43k, $44k on this...?" and I walked out.

XD

Good luck either way - you're getting a solid, beautiful car at a deep discount if you go '10 or '11... and a brand new beauty that is still a high value product if you get a '12. At least compared to the competition ;)

I sent an email request for a lease deal with my data used to figure my price earlier this afternoon so that it should be a simple, slam dunk process yet I have failed to hear from the two dealers that I sent the info to. Friday, end of month, end of model year (2011 4.6) and no one is interested?

my dealer is giving $5500 over kbb this weekend (they usually give $5k over). punch the genesis 4.6 into the kbb computer.. you wouldn't believe what it says.. remember that's a '10 ('11's aren't listed in the system yet) these cars are holding their value decently acording to kbb.com and that's all that matters to me as my dealer always has that deal.

as for build date (on driver's door jamb) mine was December 11, 2010. my vehicle sat around for about 4.5 months. i though that was a long time but after reading the other post i guess that's relatively quick?

also.. many dealers have been dealing on the Genesis.. A) you're not going to see those kinds of deals/rebates on the '12's for a while. figure minimum until we hit march of next year. this is not their "volume seller" so they will give you $1000 under invoice MAYBE in a few-6 months. i don't see them dealing on the '12's until they have to. right now you can get a 4.6 for $36,xxx, so even though the '12 is "$1500 more than an '11" in reality it is more like $6k more than what '11's are going for now (figuring the invoice for '12's are around $43,xxx $1000 under is $42,xxx when an '11 is going for $36.500 or so)

I would agree that an '11 4.6 (for the price forum members have been getting them for) is worth it to pull the trigger. If I was shopping for a 3.8, I would probably wait for the 2012's as the value part of that equation favours the 3.8. It seems to me that the 3.8 has closed the gap a bit on the 4.6 in 2012. (DI engine and all). My 2 cents anyway.

in terms of out of the hole acceleration from a stop. where most of us use the power from the 4.6 is midrange, mostof it being torque. which cannot be replicated by smaller displacement (unless the powerplant is pressurized). if given the choice of identical performance (fuel economy withstanding) based solely on "feeling" "enjoyment", etc. i would take the V8 over any "hi-tech" 6cyl. drive the 6 and then drive the 8 it is like two completely different vehicles, not just powerplant. v8 is a silent missile. the 6 can seem infiniti like "buzzy" unless idling around.

having said that it will interesting to see what the new V6 does performance wise. knowing hyundai's preference of slow shifting trans' programs i would bet it would be almost identical to the 6 speed if it weren't for the hp bump.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
If I were in the market now, I'd at least wait to see what the '12s are like on a test drive instead of on paper. There'll be good deals on '11s for a while.

Will post failed lease details later from earlier this morning.

I decided to buy the 11 4.6 for 36,240.00 plus 649.00 dealer prep in Orlando. It was too good to pas up
