  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Hi all:

I currently lease a 2010 Mazda 6 and I only have one more payment left. I have been wanting to buy a used Hyundai Genesis 4.6 (not a 3.8) with the Tech Package for quite a while now. I have found two of them online and would appreciate anyone's advice as this will be my very first used car purchase.

I don't make a lot of money, so while I would love to buy a 2010 Genesis 4.6, they're just too expensive for me right now. So, I've been looking at used 2009 models and I would like to stick around $20,000 or less. I found two 2009 Genesis 4.6 models. Here are the links:

First one:

Second one:

They're almost identical except for the interior color. Both have approximately 73,000 miles; both advertised for about $18,500. Any advice guys? I know the warranty is up. Neither one of them are certified. At least I'd have about 25,000 more miles on the powertrain warranty. Seems to me that owner reviews online indicate problems with the 2009 models but much fewer problems with 2010 models. Hmmm.... Anything I should be looking for? Tips, comments, and suggestions are welcomed! Thanks in advance.

If they aren't certified you won't have powertrain warranty.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
powertrain warranty is 60k for second owner.

With the mileage on those cars I don't think it's a particularly good price. If you can afford it I would try to find a car that has some warranty left so that if your car has something wrong you can push to get it fixed.

Not the answer you are looking for, but I would strongly consider a base model 2012 v6 which can be bought for around $22k with 25k miles. So, you have a 3 yr newer car, lots of warranty left, current body style, a little less power and many fewer electronic toys, but you would be getting a car with many more miles still ahead of it with no potential significant expenses for 35k miles.

Again, I know not what you asked about, but when you ask for free advice, this is what you get.

I asked Suze Orman about your situation, and she said that you should keep your Mazda 6 and start saving some money, instead of making payments on a another car.

No, you guys are right. Maybe it would be a bad idea to buy a car with such high mileage.

And to the guy who made the post about Suze Orman, I didn't say I only have one more payment left and then I own the car. I said I have one more payment left on my current car lease, so I either have to buy the Mazda 6 or get a different car. Either way, I'll continue to make car payments.

I agree that it would better to get a car with a warranty. You can probably get a new Sonata for close that.

A sonata. Really?!

If he's willing to spend 18.5 on a Genesis then perhaps he's willing to spend a little more (and find a better deal) to get a 2010 with <60k.

Also the 3.8 with tech seem to fall more in price then the 4.6 so if its tech you want (and I do) then look for one of them.

Also the azera seem more fun then the Sonata.

Yes, really. Buying a used Genesis without a Platinum extended warranty is financial suicide IMO (especially if has the Tech Package).

The one I posted is ~17k and 53k miles. I'd imagine some negotiation could get the warranty thrown in at point of sale for 3k or less.

Butler does a decent job at their Indy store. Have not worked with the Fishers location. You should be able to get a car fax from them. Also, they should have a good extended warranty program that will have national claim centers. Also, ask your insurance company if they have "insurance service plans" or "insurance" on repairs. I have read in other posts where that works well.

If you like the V8, there is something to it that cannot be replaced by a V6. If the V8 is not essential, Butler recently had big sales on demo/loaner V6 models and a few that are low miles trade for Equus. They quality for very low interest leases, and factory warranties. When u was there for schedule maintenance, I saw on the windows "$379" and $499 payment ads. These all are 2011 and 2012 V6 models.

The DI V6 is amazing. Had a Hertz rental I put on 15k miles or so. Was a great car. Liked it so much I bought a V8. (New 5.0). It provides a great service for taking clients around and keeping me safe and secure while on business.

My experience with Butler was very good. "Moe" is one if the managers there. If you want warranties he is the guy. BTW, the ones I talk about above I believe have a 20yr-200k single owner powertrain warranty too. Valid at Butler only (I think). They sell below retail the factory Hyundai 10-100k bumper to bumper.

My long winded .02.

If they aren't certified the entire warranty expires at 60k miles.

I bought a 2009 4.6 with 30K miles dec 2012 for 21,900 in the ny tristate area. I think you can easily find a car with low mileage if you increase your area of search and bargain.

You can find good deals if your patient. Purchased my CPO 2010 3.8 Sedan with 19k miles for $26k back in October of 2012.
