In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Buying R-spec, But Which Color To Get?

My wife has told me about Jax and we keep saying we're going to go there, but haven't yet. Good reminder!

You can even sit on there patio and watch the trout swim in the little stream they have for the fresh fish.

I get the same compliments on my Titanium Gray R Spec from the same type of people. ;) Also get stopped at lot at different places to ask what it is and admire it.

2012black genney,
$400 a year is not much for taking care of a car. Hell I spend twice that easily just on car washes. Throw in a couple of details and wax jobs a year and your easily over $1k.

And that's all just to keep it basically clean and looking good. Now throw in a black car, and I can see spending twice as much to keep it looking just as good as I do my titanium Grey R Spec.

Sorry for the confusion, I meant an extra $400.
I do like to do a lot of my own detailing(esp with a new car), its a good workout too and I'm a young whippersnapper. I figure with a black car I would need a full paint refresh once in a while tho.

I think I'm ok with it looking not as good some of the time for that right after detailing look. That just makes me happy. :D

I'm hoping I avoid the 4 parking lot mishaps with my last car but I kept that car for a long long long time and I was hoping to keep this one only 5 years and giving it to my parents. They really like it! :D

I seem to recall that's what you have, and the difference is unnoticable in the photos, but maybe the front and back passenger windows are the same and I've forgotten.
This is what I got:

  • Full window tint (35%) - sputtered metal film for better heat and UV rejection, reduced fragmentation of glass in case of accidents - lifetime warranty on film and labor
Good luck with your decision! It took me a long time to decide on the best color... all 3 available were awesome-looking.

If you're like me, and you don't mind a little quality-time with your car, you won't regret the black.

Whats the deal? We have almost 2 pages of suggestions and only Black and Titanium? Nobody likes the other colours or is it they are just not very popular?

He's getting an R Spec. Only other color is silver ;)

I ONLY WISH they had the R Spec in red or blue!

Hmmm, we have white up here in Canada in the Rspec. You know, just like the stuff we snowshoe in 12 months of the year. :D No silver by the way as it clashes with the snow.

I picked the Gray. Hides dirt real well. Matched the paint color on the grill and the chrome accents blend in well. I live in South Texas so black was a no for me. Had a black car once, never again. But up North i bet black looks great on a snowy day and the heat is not as bad.

Trust me.....

As many of the forum members have said

Get Black

Be prepared to have the car washed...... almost daily

But it's worth it

Just saw some old thread about grille painting pop up on the front page of the forum, and realized I hadn't noticed this before. Ruissimo, I went back and looked at your photos again, and your grille seems to have the metallic silver paint as well behind the chrome on the leading edge of the grille slats. The photos in the grille painting thread with this matching the color of the car look nice. What do the R-spec folks say, especially those with black?

That's a good list, but I hated Cosmos. Food was good, but the service was colder than International Falls on a windy day.

absolutely not, there is not one day I regret going with black. Owning a black car is 90% routine upkeeep though IMO.

I'm fine with any of the three US model
R-Spec colors: black, black, or black. :)

I have a Platinum Rspec and would recommend either this or the Titanium. I own a black BMW and its a royal pain keeping it clean and spotless - never again. I actually think the Titanium may be a better long term choice because it is easier to touchup any minor chips/dings than the Platinum and it hides swirl marks.

Like the others say...black looks stunning, the day you wash it.....but!

My R-Spec is black. All R-Specs I've seen look great so it's up to the OP

Enjoy

I have a 2012 Silver 3.8 and almost bought my R-Spec in silver too. I saw the black and decided to go with it. This is my 41st car, and my only car in black. I've always been worried about the maintenance factor in keeping it clean. Pick up a "California duster". It removes all of the fine dust and pollen with no abrasion to the paint and can help keep that just washed look for days.

Go with metallic Titanium Grey. This color grows on you, and specially when its sunny shows the metallic specs prominently. I owned a Infinity M35x and Accura RL both in black color, it is hard to keep up. I am very particular about keeping the cars clean, though the black color looks awesome, it shows every water spot and paint chips. The platinum color is nice in my opinion and looks darker than silver. I had my windows tinted with LLumar 30 Ceramic and the dark windows and light color paint contast looks strikingly good. Also had the windshield done with LLumar 80 blue light which looks extremely nice with a blue hue to the windshield... which cuts on glare and improves clarity along with keeping heat and solar rays out.
With all this said, nothing beats a large car with black color... if you can keep it clean (to me its like shoveling snow before it stopped snowing).

I have been buying cars for 60 yrs. I never consider anything but white. I never regret later. Other colors I liked when I bought them but regreted after awhile. Salesman tried to sell me another color but when I demanded white, he said white does have better resale value. I particularly like the pearl effect in the white Genesis paint.
