  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Buying R-spec, But Which Color To Get?

I have been buying cars for 60 yrs. I never consider anything but white. I never regret later. Other colors I liked when I bought them but regreted after awhile. Salesman tried to sell me another color but when I demanded white, he said white does have better resale value. I particularly like the pearl effect in the white Genesis paint.

White is not available in an Rspec unless you are in Canada. ;)

Just saw some old thread about grille painting pop up on the front page of the forum, and realized I hadn't noticed this before. Ruissimo, I went back and looked at your photos again, and your grille seems to have the metallic silver paint as well behind the chrome on the leading edge of the grille slats. The photos in the grille painting thread with this matching the color of the car look nice. What do the R-spec folks say, especially those with black?

My Titanium Gray R Spec has a matching grill from the factory. :)

when I was first going to buy the Genesis I didn't care what color it was, I wanted a deal. I made an offer on a demo silver/ black with the coco splash. I wasn't very enthusiastic about about the brown splash.

There was a financing issue with the demo b/c it wasn't "new" or had too many miles to be considered "new" for financing, so the dealer offered a lower mileage same year car that was black on black, with no coco - LUV it!

How can you guys forget about Manny's. Top steak house in the twin cities.

Here is my reason. When I eat steak, I eat Filet Mignon. I can buy the Filet Mignon at Costco and cook a better steak on my grill than I have had at Mannys.

Also, when eating steak out I prefer the Filet Mignon at Kincaids and the St. Paul Grill over Mannys also.

Don't get me wrong, Mannys is excellent, albeit overpriced. So, it doesn't make the cut for me.

I completely agree:)

Guys, I've never been able to prepare a steak at home like I can get at the Capital Grille or Manny's. I envy people who know how. Given a choice between steak and fresh fish, I'll lean toward fish 75% of the time. I love the St. Paul Grill, but My favorite Kincaids is the one in Bloomington.

I also like the Kincaids in Bloomington.

Have you bought the Filet Mignons at Costco? .......Superior meat is the key! The Costco meat is better than anything else I have bought.

A couple of times (Costco Eden Prairie), but all I know how to do is put it on the grill and hope I can get it off fast enough to suit my wide'a rare taste. She likes her filets galloping through the back yard!

Get the Silver.

How to cook steak:
  1. Buy steak of choice with a good marbled fat. (I like Ribeye)
  2. Make sure steak is at least 1" thick, preferably 1.5"-2" thick
  3. Put on dry rub on outside (or salt/pepper)
  4. Let come to room temp (at least an hour) and to let rub soak in
  5. Get Grill HOT
  6. Put steak on grill
  7. Cook 3-4 minutes on one side (depending on thickness)
  8. Flip, cook 2-3 mins (depending on thickness)
  9. Take temp with digitital temp probe.
  10. When it gets to 125F, remove steak from grill (medium rare)
  11. Let rest 5 mins covered. Put a pat of butter on it if you wish...
Enjoy.

Thanks! I'll try that next time. I guess GAMBLER is a steak lover. :)

Back to color: after black, my next choice would be platinum. It is a timeless and classic color on most premium or luxury cars, including the flagship color for MB and Bentley.

This has got to be the best example of hijacked thread of all time. Which colour Rspec to get and now we are talking steaks? They have cooking forums for this. :D

What elses is there to talk about. ;)

Steak and potatos. Nice looking classy cars in titanium gray. Only in America. :)

Well, as the OP, and having decided to get the black R-spec at the end of July when I need the second car (thanks all), I'm content to let it roll. BTW, whenever I'm in the Twin Cities I always eat one dinner at Jax's.

Good choice on color! Well that settles it, I'm going to take the time to go to Jax.

Great choice of color ;)

If my Genesis could cook a good steak, I'd never leave my car. Ever.

Silver makes the sedan look bigger, Black is just your personal preference on style, sleekness, and status.

Though the Black Noir does make the sedan look smaller, like 3-5 Series when the Genny Should be in the large size sedan market instead of the Equus.
