  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Can we get a For Sale section in this forum?

Alright. I suppose the WANTED and FOR SALE "thread prefixes" aren't working? Either that, or you guys just don't like them...

So I'll create a Classifieds area...

Shall this area cover ALL classifieds across the site? Or should the Coupe and Sedan be combined? Let me know...

After we get through this, we'll move onto restructuring the forums. However, last time we started getting into that - there were some questions I had - which were important to me - that were never answered...

Thank you

Regional
I'll leave regional the way it is for the time being... Let's make that phase 2...

Marketplace
- For Sale
- Wanted

Lounge
I think I'll leave the Lounge the way it is for the time being. The more important stuff should get done first...

Should I separate Wheels, Tires and Suspension (performance) and Wheels, Tires, Detailing and Appearance Modifications (appearance) into two separate areas?

This sounds like some really great and appropriate restructuring of the entire forum, and should provide clear distiction between vehicle generations -once the 2nd gen Gen arrives next year. Great change.

I second the motion!

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I want to say that coupe and sedan should be separated, but I can not justify it. I wouldn't see much use in having the two sections separated. In my last forum, all sections had just 1 for sale section...that covered 6 generations of vehicles.

As to the wheels tires thread, I see more use for a appearance section than a performance sections. I know I have met some feedback with that statement, but looking throughout the section, we have talked more about look and fitment than weight reduction and camber adjustments.

Also, I answered why the Wanted and FS prefixes didn't work in my PM. If you would like to copy and paste it here, feel free :)

Yes, good point in your PM about how the few Wanted/For Sale ads get lost amongst the discussions... So the Classified/Marketplace will be going up.

As for separate Sedan and Coupe questions - it seems there are two very different types of people buying each car - so I think it would be good to keep each section with it's own "feel".

Maybe we should just keep the WHEELS section with APPEARANCE posts but allow LIGHTWEIGHT wheels (and discussions about wheels in regards to performance) in the Performance Parts/Modifications section...

In any event, I think we're going to be doing a lot of searching/moving over the next several days. As soon as we can agree on how this is going to play out. Mainly the wheels...

Cant agree. Nobody who owns a coupe would buy wheels for bling and the majority of genesis sedan owners are the opposite. Myself i think bling is bs but thats just me. Coupe is a different crowd , while there isnt much activity there... there maybe in the future . The only thing the same with the coupe and sedan is the name... not really but you get my point.

I feel that one classified section would be sufficient for this site. We are not dealing with a wide variety of models like zilvia or Nico. No need to break the for sale section up by category either due to the low number of for sale threads so far. I would keep the thread prefixed though it is nice to distinguish between FS FT WTB.

Classified posting rules what are they are do we even have any? i.e. Location, Price, Pics with username in picture, pics required etc. Feedback/rating system would be a big plus. Looking at buying some coils on here but would feel more secure with a rating system in place.

I would not distinguish between performance and appearance on the wheels tires and suspension. No need to have it that detailed that is what the search this forum function is for. Coupe guys will be geared more towards performance and sedan towards appearance anyways.

How are we going to determine what the majority of users want the restructuring. Mods put it to a vote? Poll on main page?

Since this is a vBullitn site it is highly customizable. That being said I do think one "Classified" section would work. However, if I were building it I would create one for Automotive (Genesis Sedan/Coupe and Equus) and the other for all things non-automotive.

I do think we should outline a more defined structure for this forum and put it up for a vote. Democracy for the peeps :)

The proposed general layout looks good, Webster. Don't forget the reviews section.

As to putting it all up for a vote, I'd prefer to leave the rudder your hands. At a website like this, there's no such thing as an accurate vote count. Besides, the majority doesn't always know what's good for them.

I would love to get to this RIGHT NOW but as usual, life is getting in the way. I'll either be back later to get moving on this or there's always tomorrow. But take my word for it, it's happening very soon one way or another. It needs to be done.

Great ideas, great plan! Can't wait.

Maybe we should just keep the WHEELS section with APPEARANCE posts but allow LIGHTWEIGHT wheels (and discussions about wheels in regards to performance) in the Performance Parts/Modifications section...

So this is how I'm going to do it... Wheels discussions will stay in the Appearance areas UNLESS the topic started is discussing lightweight wheels for performance. Then, that conversation will permitted in the Performance areas. I doubt there will be very many of these conversations anyway...

I plan on addressing the changes tomorrow (Friday)...

Sorry, everyone. All I got to do today was the marketplace. The classifieds are up. It's the last category on the forum home page. Take a look and let me know what you think. I'll probably get to the rest of the forum structure on Monday...

The changes have been made. Hopefully some of the team will have a chance to look around and move topics around - as I'm sure I missed things here and there while rushing. I hope you enjoy the changes and find them useful...

Sweet, there's a Sedan performance section now too. Thanks.

Sorry it took so long, everyone. I didn't realize people really had pride in this place - and actually cared. That's a great feeling and I will continue to spend time here to help this place move forward as a result.

New header images (thanks to Ruissimo) are up and running, look for new post icons (as have been requested), updated forum software (vBulletin 4) and lots of new members as I market the heck out of this place once the new forum software is up and running...

Thanks again! I appreciate all your input...
