  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Can you change audio system default mode settings?

I've had my Genesis for about 10 days now and enjoy just about everything about it.

There's one thing, however, that irritates me every time I hit the ignition button and that's the default audio mode setting. When I get out of the car, I've usually been listening via bluetooth to one of my favorite tunes stored on my Galaxy S5 at a decent (but by no means loud) volume. When I get back into the Genesis and start her up, I'm greeted with noises from Justin Beiber or some other artist I dislike courtesy of our fine friends at Sirius/XM (which I don't ever purchase once the freebie period expires).

Of course, it takes a short while for the phone to connect to the car, so I either have to turn the volume way down or kick it over to the radio to whatever is playing there.

The last two cars I've had with bluetooth connectivity would pick up wherever it was you left off whether it be radio, BT, CD or USB thumb drive. Is there any way to get the Genesis to do likewise? If not, Is there any way to disable Sirius/XM? (I doubt it, but that would be lovely). Am I going to have to get into the habit of switching over to the radio before shutting down the car?

Thanks.

(I probably posted this in the wrong sub-forum. If the mods move it, I'll look in the "Hyundai Genesis Sedan Audio, Bluetooth, GPS and Electronics Technology" section)

You could also possibly hit the mute button before shutting the car off. The radio maintains mode except when using the Bluetooth conneciton. Poor design.

Tune your radio to a non station so no sound will be coming out.

I try to make sure I move my XM back to Symphony Hall when I power down so it's not too jarring when I start back up for the very reasons you mention.
