  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Can you turn off the ESC?...YES WE CAN!!!!

My goodness it has been a while (almost a year :)), I had few PMs regarding this subject and I am still looking into disabling portions of system but alas for the moment the system appears to be tightly integrated and hence difficult to disable individual components.

In an effort to find an elegant solution to the second phase of this problem I was inspired by another thread some time ago that addressed possible uses for the garage door buttons!? So I thought hmm, that is an idea; why not use a spare garage door button on the mirror to do the 'magic' and hence eliminating any need for wires or switches.

Three months ago I purchased a reasonably priced 12v garage door opener to see if it can be used as an interface to enable and disable the "fuse" on demand.

Thus far my testing is going well although I have been traveling allot and have yet to find some time to permanently fit the device in the engine bay as well as document the procedure for anyone who is interested to go down this route...

I am going to complete this solution soon and dedicate it to all members of this amazing forum and especially to PINGGOLF because of his hard work and his original video that inspired me to solve the "The problem" in the first place...

Here is an example of a mod I did to my Mercedes which you could use with an everyday remote similar to what you mention above. The relay is the way to go IMHO as it opens up several possibilities for connections. http://www.benzworld.org/forums/r129-sl-class/1517576-what-heck-defogger-good.html

Thanks for sharing the update on your project/experiment.
This would be a very neat solution.
If you could let us know what you find out and possibly share some detailed instructions on how you achieve it, that'd be great.
Thanks again! :)

A good tuner is more than capable of turning off esc. You just need to find a tuner in your area who can remap the computer. His equipment should allow him to read the codes and switch esc off.

Is anybody aware of hardware/software for tuning Hyundai's? I've looked and come up empty.

HA! Those are wonderful questions! We need to pull the fuse again and find out!

I know we loose the speedo and navi but I never tried playing a dvd...

You have definitely tweaked my curiosity!!

so would one of you kindly guide me the right way for the garage reciever method?

I currently have a switch setup under the hood of mine but it would be way neater to do it electronically.

Arent the Garage door recievers momentary.. i just found universal toggle rf reciever but it is rated at 3A 120v.. Can someone chime in how the garage reciever works if it is momentary. And also wether the toggle one would work even though it is 3A

I know this topic is really old, but it's good to know there is a way around it (fuse) when you want to play. I just tried it today in my v6 and I had some fun (rubber spray on sides on my bumper). Daily, not necessary imo because you can ease into the gas instead of pedal to the metal and still be quick. You v8 guys prob have more issues than me though. A locked diff would be fun but obviously not ideal.
