My goodness it has been a while (almost a year
), I had few PMs regarding this subject and I am still looking into disabling portions of system but alas for the moment the system appears to be tightly integrated and hence difficult to disable individual components.
In an effort to find an elegant solution to the second phase of this problem I was inspired by another thread some time ago that addressed possible uses for the garage door buttons!? So I thought hmm, that is an idea; why not use a spare garage door button on the mirror to do the 'magic' and hence eliminating any need for wires or switches.
Three months ago I purchased a reasonably priced 12v garage door opener to see if it can be used as an interface to enable and disable the "fuse" on demand.
Thus far my testing is going well although I have been traveling allot and have yet to find some time to permanently fit the device in the engine bay as well as document the procedure for anyone who is interested to go down this route...
I am going to complete this solution soon and dedicate it to all members of this amazing forum and especially to PINGGOLF because of his hard work and his original video that inspired me to solve the "The problem" in the first place...
