If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Hello everybody

I am reading in this forum for a while now and would like to say THANK YOU to ALL of you posting so many useful information. It made my life so much easier to make a decision and go for this truly outstanding car.
Right now I am talking to several dealers here in Alberta to see what they are willing to offer me. I purchased a Wholesale Price Report from Car Cost Canada to be prepared for the negotiations.
I was wondering if you could give me your thoughts about the following offer I received:

2009 Genesis V8 tech package black/black
purchase price excluding tax(5%): 45.500 CAD

The following is considered/included:
* Freight
* PDI (includes block heater, mud flaps, floor mats, admin fees)
* Air Conditioning Tax, tire tax, gas tax
* Cash Purchase Incentive is deducted from a.m. price

How does this price sound to you?
This is currently the best offer for a brand new V8 with tech package.
I am going to buy a car within the next 1-2weeks...
Here in Canada we won't get below dealer Invoice I believe.

THANK YOU in advance guys for your feedback.

Check the door sticker to see the date of manufacture.

When I bought my 2009 Genesis it had been sitting on the lot for eight months and was starting to cost the dealer interest.

I got mine for about $1,000 below invoice after some tough negotiations (let them phone you NEVER call them).

Thank you Dan.

I am not overly satisfied with the price offered. but still seeking for some advise/feedback/recommendation here.

Situation is, not one of the dealers here in Edmonton, AB seem to have a black V8 with tech. sitting on the lot at the present moment. Other colours i.e. red & silver with tech and V8 they have.
The dealer mentioned he "found" one somewhere that he could sell me for this price.

Overall - He was not very open or easy during our discussion, maybe I made him react that way. No idea.

The second dealer I visited yesterday was even worse.
We wanted to check out and talk about a V8 black Demo Model that their GM is currently driving...but the car wasn't there for me to see. They wanted to push me into signing something for this car & leave a deposit before I can even see it clean and check out condition i.e. of the paint job for rock chips and so forth...Tuesday I can apparently go see it now.
I am not exactly thrilled by now how they treated me.

We'll see what the next round on my way to purchase will bring.

Hi Vivien
thank you for your reply.
No, the 2009 is more than good enough for my taste.
With the several V6's and V8's I test drove, I never personally felt that the suspension needs modification.
Maybe this is also just something you realize after you drive the car for couple of weeks. At the end, I assume, it all comes down to individual like/dislike.

Besides, I hope to be able to get a better deal for the 2009 V8 considering that the 2010's are available by now. This is of higher value to me at the moment than premium leather or adaptive cruise...but again, just my personal taste.

Not that its indicative of the market today, but a year ago I paid $45,659 Cdn. all-in (taxes, freight, PDI, etc) for a V6 3.8 with Tech package. Since base price on a 2009 V8 is $48,995 I would say your 'all included' price seems fair.

So are you getting the $3,500.00 cash purchase adjustment? If so, then your actual price is $49,000.00 off the lot? If I am correct, aren't they getting full retail but knocking off all the extra charges (PDI, freight, etc.), which amount to about $1,500.00?

Just curious.

Hello Shane

the dealer calculated:
dealer cost
+ dealer margin
+ PDI
+ applicable Alberta fees like Air condition and tire fee
- current cash incentive...3500 CAD.

The guy was drawing numbers all over the Car Cost Canada paper I had with me. He also included at first Oil Change package for 499 CAD and other stuff.
It took a while for me to understand what/how he was calculating.

Not sure what the "oil change package" is? Sounds like you got a about a $2,000.00 discount which seems to be about as good as we can score in the great white north. The car really is incredibly cheap for what you get. Are you going to go for it?
I think I will take one more test drive and try to make a decision.

Are you having any second thoughts about not getting AWD? You guys have tougher winters than us.

Like Shane D I'm not sure what this is, but regular Oil Change Services cost me about $49 every 6k KM so the $499 is worth about 10 oil services.

Definitely plan on a set of Winter Tires (preferrably on rims) but you shouldn't have any problems with RWD. My Genesis handles great in the snow and I don't even have the Limited Slip Diff that's standard on the V8.

I also have my eye on a 2009 Genesis V6 with tech pkg. So far best price I am seeing in Toronto area is $44K including dealer add and-ons and $3500 discount but but not taxes.

Has anyone done better? If so where?

Does anyone know what invoice price is on these?

Thanks

Mike

AMH are you able to share invoice cost on this car? I am looking for same but V6 version/

Mike

Hello Mike

Dealer Invoice price for 2009 models:
V6 with tech. Package is : 43339.00 CAD
V8 with tech. Package is : 47027.00 CAD

Hope this helps...

@ CanukV6:
The 499 CAD was for "Lifetime" Oil Service at the dealership as long as I own the car.
Thank you for the winter tire/wheels reminder. I will definitely go get them right away.

@ Shane D:
I am not concerned about not having AWD.
Good Winter Tires and careful driving will hopefully be enough...

The Cash Price including Delivery charges should be $43,255 + taxes. Even with the Hyundai Canada $3500 "Discount" (clearout of 2009 models) the dealer should be able to give another $1000 to $1500 off that price if they are serious. The $3.5k discount is from Hyundai Canada not the dealer.

I notice that a 2010 model is $5k more  and they have dropped the Champagne Beige & Sterling Blue colours from the line-up - at least on the Tech Package cars.

After much debate I opted for an 09 RX350. However, a dealer in the GTA offered me a fabulous deal on a V8 Tech package, 2009, considerably lower than invoice. Anyone who is interested please send me a message.

Mike

The Tau V8 is Hyundai's first internally engineered 8 cylinder engine and Hyundai's first V8 equipped vehicle offered in North America. The 4.6L engine produces 375 horsepower (280 kW) at 6,500 rpm and 333 lb·ft at 3,500 rpm. Hyundai has reported 0-60 mph times of less than 6 seconds. Car and Driver reports a 0-60 mph time of 5.3 seconds, while Motor Trend reports a 0-60 mph time of 5.5 seconds in their October 2008 issue.

Hey has anyone picked up a 2010 V8 with Tech yet? I am looking at that and plan to buy in May/June. Report in with how much you guys are paying for 2010s and what dealership.
