  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Sent an email to Hyundai Canada this morning re their position on the tire recall and received this answer within 1/2 hour. (interestingly from "genesisequus@hyundaicanada.com") Seems they have a separate CS division for their "genesis" level autos.

Thank you for your email and your loyalty to our brand. There is currently a recall on the tires of 2015 Genesis Sedans in Korea and USA and we expect the same to become applicable in Canada in the very near future.

Should you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Regards,

Lina

I called Hyundai Canada yesterday and they took my vin# and told me I was in the bunch to be recalled. She said it would be a few months before we will receive letters so I assume around July at the earliest. Time to burn some rubber in the mean time. Kinda difficult with AWD and V8 combo, this thing has so much traction it's sick. :D

What tire recall?? What is the issue with the tires? I know the middle east versions which come with Dunlop tires have separation issues, but ours come with Hankooks. Never heard of anyone having issues with the Hankooks.

The OEM Hankook's are very prone to flatspotting causing vibration until they warm up. This is more pronounced in cold weather as the tires don't heat up very quickly and sometimes not enough to fully eliminate the flatspots. I have had this 'issue' since day one and mentioned it to my service advisor when I had the car serviced. As I changed to winter tires in November there was no cold-weather problem, but it is back again with the switch back to the Hankooks last week. It is annoying, but not a huge issue, although I am glad to hear that Hyundai Canada is going to address the matter.

Sent note yesterday to Hyundai Canada with VIN# and got this reply:

"Thank you for contacting Hyundai Auto Canada.
Campaign C243: Genesis Tire Replacement has been released to address the issue you are referring to. Hyundai has become aware of a minor vibration and slight tire noise on some 2015 Genesis sedans, so we are replacing all tires on all cars sold with new tires to ensure customer satisfaction with the vehicle. This is not a safety issue, it is simply to remedy the noise and vibration problem some customers are experiencing with their tires. Your local dealership will replace the current tires with four brand new tires. You can make an appointment at any Hyundai dealership to have your tires replaced.

Please do not hesitate to contact us with any further questions.

Erin
