  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Can anyone confirm if part number 84653-B1300 is correct for the cover cap for the shift-lock override for a 2018 G80 with the ultimate package (shift-by-wire). See below circled in red. This cover is missing on the car I just bought.

So, it looks like you have to buy the entire shifter assembly (46700-B1700-VCA) to get that little cap.

Have you tried the junk yard? Some are interconnected and can get parts from all over US

Not yet. eBay has one listed. $85 is better than $700, but still seems too much just to get that little cap. I am hoping to get somewhere with Carmax on it...

2018-2020 Genesis G80 Cover-Shift Lock Release 84653-B1300 | Hyundai Access Parts. My 2015 3.8 was missing one last year and I ordered from this site. Cost was less than 20 dollars. Good luck
A parts place is telling me that is the wrong one for my car. I have the shift by wire, and they are saying that is for the mechanical shifter. It looks like the cover sizes and colors are different between the two. Does yours look like the picture I have in the first post?

This is the part I replace in the picture. It may not be the same part needed as you, but the part I’m sure is available for cheaper than the ebay price.

Yeah, definitely not the same. $700 assembly needed to replace it.

The button my car is missing is different. I have the 2021 G70.

It's still the same thing. The button is there, it's the cap that is missing.
From your owner's manual:
Remove the cap-cover (1) and
press the P release button (2)
while depressing the brake pedal.
Then, the gear will change to the
N (Neutral) position. The button (2)
operates only for 20 seconds to
change the gear between P (Park)
and N (Neutral) from the time
when the button (2) is first
pressed.

You need to buy the $700 assembly or find it in a junkyard. I’ve exhausted the issue with multiple dealers.

I wonder what’s going on because I also bought a used car and it didn’t have the cap. What would somebody be removing those caps for?

I know this is an old thread, but I am subject to this missing cover as well. Did anyone find one of these? I have been checking online junkyards, but to no avail so far.

ok, now this isnt random anymore, too many of us are missing this cover and cant get it. whats going on here? something nefarious perhaps...?

I know why mine was removed. I do not know why it was not put back. I also don't know why Genesis doesn't see the need to supply this as a separate replacement part. I'd have no hesitation paying $50 for something that would surely cost them less than $1 to make.

I tried every one of those eBay sellers with the shifter that had the cover and no one came back stating the cover was available by itself. They all must know it is thought to get and will only sell the complete setup.
:(

Well, this was the most expensive plastic cover I have bought.

the assembly:

just to get this. And there are no part numbers on it anywhere for a spare part.

I wonder if it could be 3D scanned to be able to 3D print some?

I would be willing to bet yes. this is a g90, but I wonder if the g90 and g80 are the same.

I don't know if they are the same or not. The opening that I have is about 0.8" by 0.6"
