  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Taking my 2012 4.6 in to check the trans. When we where going to Vegas I would pull out to pass a car, and give it gas the. The car would sit there for about 2 to 3 seconds by for exelerate. Does anyone have this problem.

Regards, Marty

Funny, Exelerate is a Danish band.

2 to 3 full seconds sounds like an awful lot of time for a delay.

How much throttle do you give it? Enough to cause a downshift or just a little bit?

If you floor it the transmission will take a second to find the right downshift gear and that may be your hesitation. Try using less throttle or downshift manually then give it the gas.

OP: No it's not normal.

My '12 4.6 will (and my '09 4.6 before it would) go from 70 to 100 in about 5 seconds with about 1/2 throttle and a manual downshift to 7th or 6th.

If I push the pedal to (but not past) the kickdown stop and it'll down shift a couple clicks automatically and get there a second or so sooner.

I usually don't bother putting it all the way to the floor. Usually just scares the passengers. :D :D :D

The"dead pedal" sound like my issue. Hesitant shifting and gear hunting. I will be taking it in tomorrow for a check up. I hope it is the TCU software update that will correct it.

Thanks for your help,

Marty

I got my car back Thursday. They found a update for the shifting problem. Now I will have to see if this is going to fix the "dead pedal". Will get back to the Forum.

Did they fix it, Marty?

Not sure. I have not had any time to take it on the freeway. They said they found a software up date. I ask what it does, he did not know. They did clear out the ECU so the car would learn how I drive again. Will get back to you after I get it on the Freeway, where I can open it up.
