Car & Driver - new feature for 2010 Genesis

I read this issue Car and Driver and they claimed more features will be introduced in 2010 MY like laser guide cruise control and a touch screen NAV. Any body has more detail and price yet?

Rumors are that there will be a small price increase. But if sales take off with the new suspension, then more price increases may be coming. I would also be a little surprised if dealers are willing to negotiate aggressively on the new 2010 Genesis any time before the end of the calendar year.

Touch Screen Nav. Bad idea IMHO. My previous car had Touch Screen Nav. (It had Touch Screen EVERYTHING). Yes, it was easy to use, however the screen covering got worn out in the areas that you would touch often. Also, the screen gets DIRTY.

My best friend has a Prius with Touch Screen EVERYTHING, and that screen is a mess. I ask him why don't he clean it, and he says that it gets filthy again once he touches it.

The system we have on the Genesis is GREAT, once you learn how to use it, and get used to it.

I've had both types of screens, and I like the Genesis type better.

The new suspension is already in mid-year 09s, correct? Is there a VIN cut off?

Also, I agree about touch screen - bad idea due to dirt, smudges, etc.

We've had touch screens in Aircraft for years. Tell your friend to turn his hand over & touch the screen with his nail. NO MARKS !

Guys, you don't have to use the touch screen. I'm 99% certain they are offering the touch screen IN ADDITION to the controller, much like the new Buick LaCrosse.

That way people who find it easier to use the touch screen can do so, and those that don't want smudges can use the controller.

Actually it is much safer to use the controller than touch screen. With touch screen system you really have to take your eyes off the road and see what is on the screen and then move your hand/finger to manipulate. Controller require far less eye and hand movements.

But w/ the controller located where it is you're bound to eventually spill a drink on it and fry it out or make the buttons all sticky.

Just saying there are pluses and minuses to almost everything. I think it's cool that Hyundai is offering both. I can't even tell you how many PO'd Acura owners there were when Acura killed their touch screen NAV.

I don't know anything about that. Where did you hear that information? There has been speculation that they might do that, but no confirmation that I know of.

The new 3GS iPhone has a coating that helps you leave no, well hardly any, prints–-fingerprints. The glass screen is coated with a polymer, a plastic that human skin oil doesn't adhere to very well. People in the chemical bonding business like to call the finished surface "oleophobic."

Cool. I didn't know that. And my iPhone 3GS certainly stays cleaner than my old one.. Every touch-screen navigation should use this.. And I do agree that having the "option" for a touch screen is a great idea. If you don't like it, don't use it. However, if you prefer touching rather than using the controller, than great...

I have to admit, having both would be great. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about the iDrive-ish knob at first, but I've grown to love it and actually prefer it over the touchscreen in my other vehicles.

I think the only time I would use a touchscreen on the Genesis is for address entry or similar. I don't enjoy text input using the controller.
