I just went out to my car, and it was completely dead. The doors were locked up (mirrors folded inwards). I never lock the car in the garage.

My remote key would not work. Car acted like it was dead. I was able to get the blue link genesis app on my iPhone to send a signal to unlock the doors. That worked, but I have not been able to get it to start.

I tried to get the genesis app to send a command to get it to start, but that did not work.

any advice?
 
oh and there are no lights on inside...not even the red blinking security light on the top of the dash.

I think it's the battery, try to jump the car to see if it helps.
 
okay...I should say that this car was purchased the week of memorial day (2015) and has 7,000 miles on it...trouble free until now. I actually have my 7500 mile service scheduled this coming Wednesday...
 
It is unlikely to be the battery, but it could be a defected one. Keep me posted :D

Jump start would not do anything. One thing that is odd, the ignition button does light up when pressed. However that is the only system that is working.

When trying to jump, the car made no sounds at all...as if the nothing was happening.
 
oh man, I guess it is more than a defected battery. Try to place the key fob near the push to start button and try start the car. Maybe the battery of the key fob is low.
 
Did you try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes to reset the ECU. Worth a shot.
 
Are you jumping it using the battery in the trunk? The same thing happened to mine after I had it less than 2 months. The AAA guy Hyundai sent was using the front battery under the hood and nothing. We then rolled the car out the garage (I park tail in) and he used the battery in the trunk and it started immediately!
 
the tow truck driver jumped it using the front battery terminal (near all the fuses) and it started right up. Apparently, I must have not have grounded the negative in the incorrect spot...as he did it right away, which made me feel foolish...granted rescuing cars is not what I do for a living.

Luckily on I bring my car into the dealership for its 7500 service this week.

As I write this post, I am letting the car run in my garage.

Great! I'm glad you got it going. I took mine in to the dealer the very next day after that happened and of course they found nothing wrong. Anyway, it hasn't happened again since then (knock wood).
 
There have been reports on the forum of brand new batteries going kaput at $400 a pop.

And, there doesn't seem to be a definite cause found yet - but the warranty should cover it.

p.s., the neg. access terminal is in the fender under a 2" dust cover.

You should also state what the model year and trim level is (different trim levels have different electronic accessories). It might also be good to see the assembly date that is in the drivers door jam.

If you live in a hot climate, the battery may have been physically damaged internally by a combination of heat and some jarring event (bump in the road). Or it could just be that your battery was somehow discharged due to electrical system not shutting completely off (various reasons for that).
 
The only time I had to jump mine, it turned out the trunk was ajar in my garage, and the trunk light was on all night. I put a charger on it, and it started a couple minutes later.

Might go qucker if you drive it around and put a tender/charger on it overnight.

If you just run the car to charge up the battery (yes, something was left on and you discharged your battery) you won't get a deep charge in the battery and it puts a lot of stress on the alternator, shortening it's lifespan. Hook it up to a battery charger (how long depends on what amperage the charger is, but if the interior lights were brown, it'll be 3-4 hours on a 20A charge, up to 10 hours at 6A) and charge the battery completely.

The problem with just running the car is that you will get a surface charge in the battery only, then you have a much higher risk of draining the battery again down the road in a couple weeks and you shorten the lifespan of the battery.
 
I just had the same issue last night with my wifes Optima. Went to start it and the car just made crazy noises. Electronics all worked, but I figured the battery somehow got drained so I put my trickle charger on it overnight and it started right away this morning. I had the same thing happen to me once on my '09 Genesis. It's only happened on my Genesis once in my ownership.

The manual at p. 7-42 also recommends a trickle charge for 10 hours (maybe, just playing it safe).

The Schumacher SEM-1562A CA (amazon $22) works nicely.

The Genny needs a special type of charger... The battery is a AGM style and needs a AGM charger ...SEM1562 listed could damage or shorten the life of the battery.

The 1562A manual at p. 3 specifically states "Use the battery charger on 6 and 12V LEAD ACID, GEL, AND AGM-type rechargeable batteries.

Also 1562A is advertised as ok for agm's, wet cells, and gel cells - I wouldn't have recommended it, otherwise.
