  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey all! I have loved the Genesis from day one and have sold this car to so many who still don't know what Hyundai is offering with this car. I am changing jobs in a week and will be losing my company car. This opens up the door for me to use the new company car plan, which gives me an allowance. Tell me what you all think:

$500/mth (grossed up for after tax)
.21 cents gas / mile

My commute will take me on a 2hr highway drive once everyother week along with local driving. I estimate 1500 miles/mth. Looking at every car out there, and my need for a 3rd row capable crossover for my kids.......I just can't find anything that I want to jump in for $40k. Everything costs $40k it seems of any interest. The Buick Enclave has my eye for the family benefit, but the Genesis 4.6 is my selfish desire. I am spending more time trying to find 20" rims.

Rims: I feel the Genesis needs a "heavy wheel" vs the "5 spoke" design. I am okay with deep dish, but also like the full outer edge filled with multi spoke...leaving no deep dish. This forum lacks good wheel pics.

Anyway, I am hoping to find a 2010 4.6 and regret I am buying right before the Lexus/BMW updated 2011's. Oh well. Anyone know that dealer in Kansas offering the good deals?

Thanks for letting me spill my Genesis talk. Had to get it out! :)

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
See Tire Rack and Discount Tire for wheel options. Front caliper clearance seems to be am issue on the 4.6 so anything you order get a promise that they will fit or you can return them. If you don't have more than 3 kids, the Genesis has a large back seat and a huge trunk. You will get better fuel economy and enjoy driving the Genesis much more than the GM Lambda's.
As far as the 2011 BMW or Lexus, the Genesis is better equipped, larger, faster and can be less expensive than a similarly equipped 3 series or IS and considerably less expensive than a 5 series or GS. The dealer in Kansas is always on Ebay so you might do a search for 2011 Genesis and scan the ads until you find them. I don't know their name but I have seen the ads.

Thanks! Good points about the backseat vs big lambda ride. I went and drove a Genesis again today. Dealer only had 2010's and had a $3000 mark up on them. Of the two I drove, both had almost 4000 test drive miles? DON'T THINK SO FOR THIS GUY. If I buy a 2010, it needs to be new and reduced $7k for year depreciation. Came across a 4.6 2010 with 4k miles for $37k all options by private seller. Maybe I should take it?

I agree with the BMW Lexus comparisons. I was referring to the new 2012 Genesis design which looks like the Lexus 460 rear and the BMW shifter.

Thanks.

I have th 2011 with the 4.6. I personally would not want a 2012 4.6 until the new 8 speed transmission is proven. The 6 speed ZF trans. in the 2011 4.6 is a known quanitity. Also, 2011 engine has internal improvements. In my opinion the 4.6 comes with great looking 18" rims. Dunlop tire are the weak point. Get Bridgestone, Continental or Mich. tires.

I would never pay even list much less over list. There are plenty of dealers that would be more than happy to sell a Genesis at a fair price but you might have to travel a little bit. I got mine when Costco was having their Hyundai event so I got a super deal, basically Hyundai Circle plus a $500 Costco cash card. Not all participated and the ones that didn't were mostly the ones trying to get over list. It sounds like you are in Kansas, if so I would look from St.Louis to Denver and south to OK City. There should be enough dealers to get a good price. My son's neighbor found the best deal on his GT500 in KC Mo. He lives in Denver. Even with the plane ticket and the gas home he saved a lot of money. My last 2 convertibles (Saab and BMW) I got one in Mass. and the other in upstate NY. I am in SC and the deal was way better than local, Charlotte or Atlanta. The deals are out there, you just have to look.

Hey Msitter. You're right. I am in OKC, and I found a thread "2011 price paid" and already found 2 dealers in Texas offering 37k with all options! Just trying to find a white with the saddle leather. Not big on the cashmere. Also, brochure shows interior colors and lists two options for each; regular and premium leather?

What are the engine improvements in the 2011?

Some Genesis' have two piano black front covers on front lower corners of air dam. Others don't have any plastic black covers over the vents? Anyone else notice this? Saw at my local dealer today as they were parked side by side. Was looking for any differences in 2010 & 2011, but both cars were 2010 and both 4.6.

The 2011 has 385 hp vs original 375 hp. Valving is improved and " The Hyundai Genesis Tau V8 is getting massaged for 2011 with a bump of ten ponies, bringing it up to 385 HP. How? More valve lift, intake manifold tweaks, low-friction coating on the pistons, and iridium spark plugs." The blacked out areas on the lower grill of the 2011 are the adaptive cruise control radars.

All 4.6 Genesis after a March 2010 build date has the 385 hp upgrade. The 2 black panels on the lower grill are exclusive to the V8 I think. I have tried to figure that out myself and I have only noticed them on the 4.6. The 2011 as far as I can see is unchanged at all from a 2010 except for that hp bump on the V8 and Tech pkg is now standard on the V8. Prices are unchanged and a few exterior/interior color combinations have been eliminated.

My 2010 is a May 2010 build and has the adaptive headlights, front and rear park assist, adaptive cruise control as well as the 385 hp engine. What that news item was saying is that the Tech package is now standard on the V8 Genesis for 2011 but the content remains unchanged.
