  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi! I’m wondering if anybody else has had similar issues with their Genesis Gv80. I purchased this car BRAND NEW from our local dealership in May 2022. When I got the car, one of the keys wasn’t working correctly, but I didn’t think much of it. I spent the summer driving my car and eventually took the key in to get fixed. When I brought it in, they found out they had to redo the entire electrical system. I took it in October and it was in the shop for 7 days. Then, I go out of town for a little and come back in November to a completely dead car that will not start, even with jumping it. I had to get the car towed to the dealership and they replaced the battery. They had my car for, thankfully, just one day. When I get back in December, I have more electrical issues. The check engine light is on, the Automatic emergency breaking system was going on and off, and traction control kept disabling. I took it in to the dealership, they had it for 7 days and could not find the issue.
When it comes to the battery, they explained that I need to have somebody start my car and drive it every few weeks. So I make sure somebody does that for me. My car was driven on Sunday and was dead 11 days later. We jumped it, drove it around, and it was dead again 2 days later. I can not have an $80,000 car that is unreliable the way that this one is. I am on the verge of getting a lawyer, but I wanted to know if I’m the only one with these issues. I hate having my car towed and spending days getting repaired. It‘s just added wear and tear to the car and, in my opinion, the Hyundai service team is careless (one of the mechanics scratched my seat with tools he had in his back pocket). But, I guess that’s unrelated...

Every few weeks was good on you '89 Chevy, not on a 2000 car with lots of computers.

Two days is not good. Eleven days to be dead is not uncommon for many cars today. I have a friend that gets 5 days on her BMW and about a week on her Lexus. Most cars today have electronics and have a slight drain.

If you are going to leave the car for an extended time, a battery tender would take care of it.

No, mine has been solid. Have you talked to Genesis customer support about these issues? I think I would start talking to Genesis about getting you another vehicle or a buy back.

What about leaving your car at the airport? You land at midnight and you have to call Genesis to come jump your car? I feel like it’s ridiculous

I also forgot to add that after jumping it this time, the check engine light is on and the AC doesn’t work.

Usually a week is not problem. If it was two weeks, it would be cheaper to hire a delux limo than to pay airport parking.

Given the CRL is on and AC not working you may have other electrical problems.

I did a sleep and drive at a hotel near Miami where I stayed the night before my flight and they let me park there for 21 days free. It was a trip to Alaska and spent close to a month there. When we got back, my Audi Q5 started right up. (and the hoted did not charge me for the extra week.)
When I got the GV80, I read in the manual, not to open your tail gate more than two or three times without the engine running as it would kill the battery. I got worried, real worried. I have one of those small lithium battery car starters that whenever I take a trip, I throw that in the car just in case this happens to me as I fly a lot. My battery has never been over 67% since I got it. When it comes time to purchase a new battery, I will not be getting one from Walmart
