  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

There has to be a way you can play YouTube Videos on the screen in the middle while driving using CarPlay

I guess anything is possible if you can get into the computer. Given the laws against it and possible liability Genesis certainly is not going to make it easy. Nor would Apple lawyers.

If you figure it out, let me know where you are so I can avoid being near you on the road.

There’s not. For good (very obvious) reason as stated above. But you can play just the audio, I’ve had that happen accidentally

it would just be nice feature to have. Most my friends with a BMW or BENZ have coded their screens to play YouTube video while driving or even when you get stuck in traffic.

Ah so that explains the stereotypes

I really like when my pilots are playing X Box when landing.

Most of our fathers used to say “If your friends jump off a bridge would you jump too?” I think my Dad was trying to teach me something because he said it to me every so often.

Most of us jumped once and found out what he meant.

I refer to such young men behavior as "deep risk". Behavior where the reward is so slim as to be nothing and the risk so greatly outweighs the apparent reward. It is described by social scientists as a "plumage" behavior. Displaying a casual disdain of risk to show courage in the face of such risk so as to be a performative manliness, for women first but also to other men. By the time one has been a father for some years that urge has been met and passed.

Many of us recall the days when an AM radio was the primary entertainment in a vehicle, unless you were with a date at a drive-in movie. I remember trying to tune in powerhouse stations like WOWO 1190 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana in the nighttime hours. I lived in northern NJ and near WABC 770 in New York City, so there was always some mono music in the car.

Later I installed a reverb system in my first new car and really enjoyed the reverb mono effect. I wish I could recreate that sound in my current vehicles because, in a way, reverb mono was much more fun than a 17 speaker Lexicon system.

No, I never felt deprived that I couldn’t watch PewDiePie in my car when forced to stop for a traffic light.

I know I’m just an old geezer and struggle with technology, but tell me again why you would want to sit in your car to watch a video? 😉

Is there a way to watch videos while parked? CarPlay?
I haven't tried it, but according to my G80 manual, you can put movies on a thumb drive and plug it in and play them from there.

If you are waiting in the car while your wife is shopping, a three hour movie may be just the thing to keep you awake.

Sounds to me like you have not figured out how to control your wife :). Okay, neither have I ;)

I did watch an old DVD once while I was waiting in my car at the vet for a few hours.

I had this setup on a car before. It's nice to have especially when you have kids or are stuck in traffic. I hate the amount of finger wagging I see on this forum. Maybe your passenger wants to watch something?

Anyway, basically you'd need to trick the car into thinking that it's in "Park". I had an installer ground a wire on to the frame and then I was good to go.

2 years, no accidents, and a lot of happy passengers.

The big hurdle is going to be CarPlay. It's setup specifically for safe driving and has nothing to do with the Genesis system. You're most likely going to need a separate app, similar to the MirrorLink app I used to run in order to do this.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!

I'm old fashioned. If my passenger would rather watch a movie than have conversation, I don't want them as a passenger. I'm not a paid chauffer. The passengers are usually family or friends.

Why not just watch on your phone or tablet? No restrictions there. And you can BT into the car audio system.

You're ignoring what doesn't fit in the example for you. Your situation is not every driver, nor is your preference, which OP never asked. This has nothing to do with being old fashioned, it's just sounds like old people being rude and judgemental.

I gave an example of children watching something, which would be convenient if you have a restless child and long drive. Or are you going to shun then from your car because they don't want to have a conversation with you? I also gave an example of being stuck in traffic, where if you're not moving, there's not much harm?
