  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

In no particular order this is a list of cars that I shopped prior to deciding on the Genesis. There were a couple of brands that didn't make my list for geographical reasons (i.e. dealership > 25 miles away) that I might have looked at as well.

  • Ford Fusion 2.0 Titanium
  • Ford Fusion Hybrid
  • Lincoln MKZ 2.0T
  • Lincoln MKZ 3.7 V6
  • Lincoln MKZ Hybrid
  • BMW 328i
  • BMW 328ix
  • Cadillac ATS 2.0T Performance
  • Cadillac CTS Sport
  • Hyunda Azera
  • Kia Cadenza
  • Buick Regal GS Turbo
  • Buick Lacrosse Touring

MB S-Class and E-Class
CTS-V Sedan
Maserati Q (1 year old)
(Could not consider BMW or Audi again)

So what turned you off to the BMW & Audi?

Personal experience with high $$ repairs @ 60,000-80,000 miles and repeated towing experiences. Life in Minnesota is pretty ugly on a cold, dark, wintery road when you are waiting for your best friend the flat-bed driver! If I'm going to dance with the car devil, it will be a different car devil. Until then, the G is all I need.

BMW 5 series
MB C-Class and E-Class
Audi A4/A6
Caddie XTR
Lexus
Infinity
Kia Cadenza

Short list: Lexus RX, Lexus ES, Lexus IS, Infinity M

Considered but didn't research: Tesla S (kind of), MBZ SUV

Wish I spent a little more time looking at options...

SHO
MKS With twin turbo
ATS 3.7
Lexus GS

No contest. Genny wins.

I have a life long friend who owns a BMW/Mercedes/Volvo auto parts store - for the past 30 years. I know how much parts cost for these cars. If that wasn't an issue with me, I'd have gotten a nice 500 series BMW, but I'm so freaking old, that the emblem doesn't matter any more :) It's all about balance.

KIA Cadenza
Lexus IS350
Didn't bother with German cars since I've never liked them anyway. (mostly for up keep reasons)

What did you think of the Cadenza? It was on my list but I never made it to drive one after falling for the Genesis. I do think the name is kind of dumb though.
