  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

CataClean, Techron, or any other engine cleaner for 4.6L engine?

Good.

The transmission is also adaptive. A battery reset will take care of that too. Make sure to leave it disconnected for a few minutes at least. You never touched the transmission, thats a sure sign it’s computer related.

Also, after you do a battery cleansing, your ecu and tcu will need to adapt to how YOU drive, so give it a few days and then see where you’re at!

I disconnected the battery tonight and let it sit for about 10 minutes. After reconnecting the battery, I took it out for a spin and, let me tell you, the car runs like a scalded cat now. It downshifts much more aggressively and pulls harder, revs higher. It drives more like it did when I first got it. I may have to do this more often!

Soooo..... Did cleaning the throttle body fix your stalling problem?

Well, tonight I cranked it after it sat in the garage for an hour or so after being driven. It did seem to try to die, but it didn't and kept running. I'll have to keep watching it over time and see how it does.

Sounds like the throttle plate cleaning made a difference. Maybe remove it next time and really get in on both sides of the plate. Looks like it's just 4 bolts and a harness connector or two and you can pop it off and give it a good look and cleaning. Pick up a new gasket in case you damage the existing one.

Yep, it's now been a few weeks since cleaning the throttle valve area, and the engine doesn't die any more!

Awesome. That is a good problem to not have.
