  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anyone noticed that the center console, right in front of the wireless charger is peeling? I have called my dealer to have it resolved, but haven't heard back. For a luxury car that is only 6 months old, it's disappointing to see this poor quality.

I have noticed this. It's like small black flakes of plastic are rubbing off where my the USB cable that connects to my iPhone rubs against the inside of the console, near the wireless charger is. I should take pics. Do you have any pics? Please keep us posted if/when the dealer does anything.

9 months in...nothing on my car. I only use the Qi.

Mine with 7 months has that too, exactly in the same spot.

So I talked to the dealer this morning and they are going to have a "detailer" look at it on Thursday and see if he can fix it. Apparently for warranty they have to try to repair before they can replace. I'm wondering if this is a bigger issue that should be a recall vs some detailer buffing it out and slapping polish on it. Too much money has been spent on this car for cutting corners.

Quick poll - I have the 3.3T Sport - I'm wondering if this is a model issue - anyone else with this model experiencing issue?

Mine seems fine and I park it in the sun 5 days a week, but it doesn't see very much action in terms of things on it or even resting my hand there.
However, I do have tints all around which may help a bit with any UV damage (if that is the cause)

Edit: As everyone is adding mileage, I'm around 5k

That's too bad. I agree, they should just replace that piece. I think the idea of having a detailer look at it is ridiculous. I wonder if that's to save them a few $$, or if it's because they might not be able to get the part yet, or don't know how to replace it. Sad either way.
I've got 8k miles and seven months of ownership on my 3.3T Design, nothing like that so far but I'll keep an eye on it.

3.3T Prestige here, tinted all around. I don't think is UV related more like it has to be with the cell phone rubbing with it.

2.0T 7k km in and starting to see some flaking as well. Not too noticeable or big but still something that shouldn't be happening.

So this issue is only on the wireless charging pad that is like rubberized?

I don't think so. It looked like it was on the narrow piece of black trim between the pad and the brushed metal in the center console.

Well fme...I got car dandruff :( Happening to me as well. Looking at the Qi charger...the thin strip running along the right side.

I didn't notice it until I saw this thread...and actually went out and rubbed my finger on it. Looked at my finger...flakes.

So...not along the front...thus not visible to me. I don't care really...until it starts happening in other places. The dealer will then simply replace it all...defective warranty item.

Kinda sucks...as I have been immune to all these various issues. This is the first one that I am part of.

Head and shoulders?

Welcome to the dandruff club

Really disappointing. Had to go check and see if I have that same trim design, but the manual is one piece around the shift boot, so hoping that it's not the same material.

I’m with you. This thread got me to look at the trim piece around my MT shifter. Different piece, but I can’t tell if it’s made from the same material.

Anyone with a 6MT get this problem yet?
