Because I am leaving for Penfield next week, and will be up there for 2 to 4 weeks, I decided to check the condition of the Cabin Filter. Car has 23000 miles on it. About 10000 miles ago, my Genesis Tech, who had a lot of trouble getting to the filter, did show me how to do it. OK, emptied the glove box and attempted to remove the stopper clips on each side of the glove box. NOT! Checked the owners manual, and between what the Tech showed me, and the owners manual, still could not remove the stopper clips. Pulled clips toward the center of the glove box, then pull back, and even tried to pull the clips out with a pliers. Would not budge. Checked owners manual again, and tried again. All that happens is that I mangle the clips, but they will not come out. Decided to just leave the clips, and the Cabin Filter in place for now. I just hate to pay a dealer to change that filter. Who designed this system with those two stopper clips. Like I said before, the first time my Genesis Technician tried to remove those clips, even he could not do it.
I'm not really going to worry about it yet. After all, my other car, the Continental, which has 74000 miles on it, has never had its cabin filter changed, and air flows through it just fine.
While down on my knees, trying to remove the above mentioned clips, I got to wondering WHERE IS THE SWITCH TO SHUT OFF THE GLOVE BOX LAMP?
Looked all over in and around the glove box, but no switch. I know (I think) that the glove box lamp must go off when the glove box door closes, but I can't find the switch. Any ideas?
