  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Very happy with my 2010 4.6L Genny with tech package. Someone noted that some people are swapping out their Genesis emblems with Equus, ordering them from Korea. If I wanted to consider this, would I be able to swap out only the front and rear emblems? I asked the dealer, and he said that they can't switch out the emblems for the wheels, steering wheel, or the "shifting handle" because of the size difference.
Has anyone heard anything regarding this?
Thanks!

Changing the flying H to Genesis wings makes sense to me. It is a Geneses and outside North America, the wings are the standard emblems.

Changing to the Equus emblem makes no sense. It is not an Equus. The result to my eyes would be about like the folks that glue vinyl on a car roof to make it a pretend convertible.

This.

Good to hear. I was against the idea when I originally heard it, but I have to say the idea had me a bit curious after a while. It's good to get feedback from the community about this. Thanks.

This reminds me of a car I saw the other day. This guy had put sticky house number tabs on his car. Ya know the slanted gold and black letters. He put something like 350 HP SL. I just cracked up. I should have snapped a picture.

My 4.6 came with the winged badges and I'm glad, but still honestly do have some trepidation about it. It's a Hyundai. I shouldn't worry about hiding that fact, nor do I care, being a guy who doesn't care about keeping up with the Joneses. I don't want it to be a Bentley or anything other than the kickass car it is.

Maybe there's always been a small part of me that wonders why there is a rebadging shtick to begin with. I don't know. But also being an aviation nerd, I like the wings.

But to swap the Genesis for the Equus emblems is, no offense, a pretty douchebag move.

No one should feel guilty or deceptive by re-badging with original Hyundai parts on their Hyundai vehicle. Wings are used as a brand symbol on many products: Bentley, Mini Cooper, Southwest Airlines, Thunderbird, Firebird, Chrysler, Harley-Davidson, Aston Martin, Lagonda, just to name a few. I'm sure many of you can think of a few more. The fact that many people think that a re-badged Genesis is a Bentley, (and this has happened to me so much I've lost count) is a tribute to the quality that the Genesis presents to the viewer.

That wasn't the question.

Guys/Gals
Didn't want to start a new thread but I think the front end looks out of place without a badge on my 2012 3.8. I went ahead and bought the hood Genny badge and having it put on early next week. Do most folks do this too that do the badge swaps? I think it completes the car. Now I will have the hubcaps, rear deck, steering wheel and hood emblems!

In Korea, it is not sold as a Hyundai, but as a Genesis, with model numbers BH380, BH460, etc. That is why the wing badges exist in the first place (instead of Hyundai badges). Obviously the Genesis brand in Korea is made by Hyundai, just like a Lincoln is made by Ford Motor Company.

In the North America markets, they decided to sell The Genesis models (and Equus) as a Hyundai brand, instead of a seperate Genesis/Equus brand. This was done so that Genesis/Equus would help to improve the brand image of Hyundai in North America.
