  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just purchased a 2011 genesis. Love the car so much but can’t figure out how to use the usb charging port and have the phone out in the car at the same time. There is no cord pass through from the upper console. Or is there? Am I missing it? Still can’t get my apple music to play in the car speaker by Bluetooth. That has been a challenge too.

I don't know about 3.8 model, but USB port in my 2011 4.6 is for playing MP3 music files, not for charging. And 2011 year models don't have Bluetooth streaming capabilities.

I don't think that the 2011 supported bluetooth for music streaming.

It will still slow charge.

After your reply I decided to plug my cell phone into that USB port (I never did this during 10 years of ownership).
And what do you know?! Battery icon changed to charging status! Learn something new every day.

So, I stand corrected.

I couldn't play any MP3 music files from my phone, though.

So are you using an adapter in the ashtray cigarette lighter for charging? I started to do that but the manual said not to. Plus mine seems dead so the fuse must be blown. Now to figure out which fuse goes to it since it’s not on the fuse diagram.

Do you have a pass through from your top center console so the cord doesn’t get pinched?

Yes, I do, between lower (bigger) and upper (smaller) compartments, but not out of either one.
But edges of both lids have soft padding so my cord is intact by pinching.

I use this box which is plugged into the ashtray cigarette lighter. It powers radar detector, dash cam, and sometimes cell phone.
Cigarette lighter inside center console is used to power my GMRS radio.
