  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Chattering Sound Under Acceleration

I had the same sound at 27 to 34mph. They replaced the driveshaft and sound went away. Was good for about 2 weeks then developed a vibration at 27 to 34mph only. No sound like before, but rather a vibration at the exact same speed. Took to dealer again. Driveshaft replaced a second time. Now the vibration is worse than ever. This is very disturbing while driving a smooth and quite car otherwise. Please let me know if your problem gets fixed or if anyone else has had this resolved.

That is very odd! Maybe the driveshaft mounts are off center just slightly, causing a vibration just at certain speeds.

Since we're going around bumping all the threads, I'll join in too! I just did subframe collars and my vibration is gone/vanished/vamoosed. It would make sense too because the front and back halves of the car can shift about 1/4" in any horizontal direction. If there's a vibration still it's changed to where I can't find it any more.

Yeah the driveshaft vibration sounds more concerning than the chattering. Did the 2009-2014 collar kit fit your 2015 Genesis Suburbazine? Any other benefits you noticed after install? How much or challenging was the install?

There’s a 15/16 specific kit:

Sounds like positive news for those with this issue. Great find.

That is awesome! I just purchased the collars and will install ASAP. I'll update after installation. Thanks Suburazine!

Hope the collars help you guys but I installed them on mine years ago and it did not help with any noise or vibration from the drivetrain.

I dont have access to a lift. Do you think I could do the job on jack stands? I am A heavy Equipment/heavy truck tech, cars are not my thing but I can get by. How would you rate the job on a 1 to 10 scale. 10 being the most difficult. What are your thoughts Suburbazine?

I did mine on jacks. Honestly if I remember correctly it took longer to get the car up and level than the actual install.

It’s about a 5. If the rear subframe is particularly out of alignment in the holes, you’ll have less room to push it on jackstands. The only other hard thing is getting 130ft/lbs on your back handling a 6” extension.

Thanks Suburbazine!👍 I can relate to that laying on your back getting the right torque. Especially with a 6 inch extension. Kind of like the mains on an Isx150ft lb. +90 degrees!!@😣 I appreciate your input and knowledge!!! Thanks once again Suburbazine. 👍
