Hello, I've done some researches here as this is my second time with a Check Engine Light issue since 2009. But I believe this could be different than Gas Cap issue so I decided to ask for advice.

Symptoms;

1. It would take more than 5 minutes to fill up since I will manually have to hold on to the Gas pump for the entire fill up... (Auto Fill up function doesn't work since it slips) This is terrible when you have all these cars behind you to fill up at COSTCO... :(

2. Don't hear pressure being released when removing the Gas Cap.

Dealer replaced the 'faulty' gas cap a few years ago and it's been all right since. Wait a minute, there were 2 other instances in between with Check Engine Light for 'battery' and 'tire pressure' codes... ODD?

I am going to take it to the dealer on my day off; any ideas?

If the dealer does its "must be a loose cap" route, then what could be the potential damage to the vehicle for a long run? Thank you guys!

Check Engine Light & Can't Pump / Fill up Gas

Bizarre, this happened to me just last week. I chalked it up to coincidence. I got a check engine with about a quarter tank left. The engine was running great, and I do not have a generic OBD reader yet, so I tried the fill-up route. But, it took forever. I could only fill at partial flow-- very slow. The check engine went away a day or so later. No explanation, and I have not bought gas since.

I cannot think of any potential damage. The whole purpose of the evap sensor in the fuel tank is to prevent gas fumes from escaping into the atmosphere. It has no effect on engine performance.

I eagerly await your follow-up.

If you can't flow fuel fast into the filler port, the vent line may be clogged. Maybe try snaking that? Not sure if a clogged vent would throw a CEL though...usually it's a loose cap that does.

Got some fault codes;

P2198 twice (O2 Sensor Signal Stuck Rich)
P0154 twice (O2 Sensor Circuit No Activity Detected)
P0051 once (HO2S Heater Control Circuit Low)

Dealer special ordered an HO2 Sensor, so I am going back in a week...

To Sum up what has happened;

Frustrated with partial flow Gas Fill up since it takes twice as long to fill up...

Gas attendant at COSTCO recommended to lift up the Pump for faster fill up; warned me for a possible overflow / spill since Pump is up causing the tip of the Pump facing down when it should be pointed upward when inserted to car...

There's no pressure being released when twist-opening the gas cap...

I am hopeful this will help fix the issue... My friend believes that the Gas Tank needs to be drained and re-fit to confirm whether vacuum is present or not... We'll have to see what Hyundai dealer decides...

This happened to me yesterday. Did you find out what was going on?

Check this!

Nov 20, 2012, the Check Engine light started blinking rapidly when I was driving and would not accelerate when the gas pedal was engaged. No response, lose of power and my electronic systems reset(?!?) (A/C was automatically turned on full blast and would not let me turn it off - it's now cold in LA, CA, I did not turn it on).

So I took my car in to the dealer the next day and I was turned away. The reason was, "we still don't have the part to work on your car. We will call you the day after thanksgiving on Friday."

Fast Forward to Dec 5, 2012. Installed 39210-3C800: Sensor Assy-Oxygen. Replaced the heated O2 Sensor Bnk2 Sensr 1 UPSTREAM.

My car is running fine and no more Check Engine Light; fingers crossed...
