Check engine Light keeps coming on

My 2013 Genesis sedan's check engine light keeps coming on(4 times in last 3 weeks) First 2 times a loose gas cap was blamed. third time gas cap was replaced. light came on the next day. Does anyone have any suggestions?

No clue unless we know what the code is.

Was the previous repairs at the same spot or dealer?

Same codes each time? And what code exactly ?

Could be a lot of things..

Check engine light came on this weekend (2009 Genesis 4.6). I found the gas cap had only been closed with "1-click". Reclosed the gas cap with several (4-5) clicks and called the dealer (Racine Hyundai) for code analysis and light reset. They verified the problem was gas cap not tightened and charged me $110.00 for a "smoke test". I think I was ripped off on this one!

Sounds to me like the test was if they could blow smoke up your ass. Sounds like you passed!

A smoke test tells me that they received an EGR or EVAP code. That would also indicate the gas cap. Something like a P0420 would send them sniffing around the vacuum lines. A smoke test is just that. The flood the bottom of the car with smoke to see where the air leak (if there is one) exists. It was the only thing that helped when I had my P0420 years ago lol

Then download a free app. Android or IOS.

I keep this in my glove box and it has saved me lots of money and hassle.
